A Snapshot of Your Day

In your role as General Ledger, Closing and Reporting Team Lead:

• You will lead a team of domain experts, which includes, managing of accounting issues, analysis of errors, initiation of any necessary corrections and leading process improvement activities or initiatives, if needed with support from the General Ledger, Closing and Reporting Function Lead.
• You will supervise daily General Ledger, Closing and Reporting transactions and month-end-closing activities and ensuring they are recorded in a timely and accurate manner, in accordance with IFRS and local GAAP quality standards or any other relevant regulations and guidelines.
• You will be expected to collaborate and build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders such as regional accounting hubs, local business teams, and other partners within Siemens Energy’s local and global communities.
• Listen actively and continuously focused on stakeholder requests, managing complex and uncertain operational issues, while decisively moving forward in taking ownership of decisions, together with the General Ledger, Closing and Reporting Function Lead.
• Share best practices with all relevant stakeholders.

Escalations & Process Improvement

• With your relevant experience, you are leading the General Ledger, Closing and Reporting team in all accounting issues and finding a resolution as a competent contact person.
• Leading the team in process improvement or finance transformation projects or other value-added solutions for your area of expertise.

How You’ll Make an Impact

Daily Operations, Controls and Process improvements

As a detail oriented and people focused General Ledger, Closing and Reporting Team Lead, through active commitment and involvement, you will be responsible for coordinating people and activities, such as:

In your role as Team Lead - General Ledger and Closing you will be responsible for the periodic financial statements in your area of responsibility (monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements) in accordance with IFRS, considering internal guidelines in various and complex IT systems, for example:

• G/L accounts reconciliation
• Support of reporting sales tax
• Opening balance (Carry forward)
• Support of Hubs and Companies
• Monitoring business related provisions & accruals, deferred income
• Employee-related topics
• Inventory Valuation
• Posting of journal entries
• Valuation / monitoring GL accounts
• Reporting IFRS in ESPRIT & Adstar for SC, BU & SF, Actual, FC & Comparability
• Ensuring stability in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities, actively providing support to General Ledger, Closing and Reporting team members as a relevant specialist and leader.
• You assist with ad-hoc duties required by management to meet the needs of the business, and coordinate solutions with your team if required.
• Working independently and proactively supporting the General Ledger, Closing and Reporting team members, also providing feedback for more complex issues to the Function Lead.
• You will be responsible for internal controls in General Ledger, Closing and Reporting accounting, also participating in internal and external audits by providing timely and qualitative information and resolve queries from the auditors (where applicable for the assigned countries/legal entities).
• You own the implementation and continuous update of DTP (Desktop Procedure) documentation for existing and creation of DTPs new processes/variances.
• You are actively involved in leading, proposing and coordinating people and processes in continuous improvement initiatives as part of finance transformation projects. You will support projects related to General Ledger, Closing and Reporting, Mergers and Acquisitions and ERP migration projects, among others.
• Contributing and engaging in standardizing and automating our workflows and General Ledger, Closing and Reporting processes and our cross-functional processes throughout the company.
• Coach, mentor and develop team members in accordance with career development plans. Also work closely together with the Function Lead for your own career development purposes.
• With your open-mindedness and willingness to learn, by building your skills and capabilities within our organization, you will support the General Ledger, Closing and Reporting team with the tasks at hand.
• Invest in your own career development by regularly seeking and giving honest feedback and embracing a curious mindset in learning and personal development.

• Mentor and develop team members from an operational point of view in accordance with business requirements. Also work closely together with the Function Lead to develop your leadership or operational skills in the field of General Ledger, Closing and Reporting.

• Become more self-directed, build process ownership, and find meaning in your work by taking part in process improvement initiatives and cross-functional projects.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
• Minimum 7 years of experience in the field of General Ledger, Closing and Reporting Accounting & Finance Operations
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Team Leadership
• Extensive knowledge of accounting and IFRS is mandatory.
• Very good MS-Office skills (especially in MS-Excel)
• Very good understanding of business processes in SAP
• Experience in transitions and transformation projects
• Willingness to travel for knowledge transfer, training/workshops, if needed
• Bilingual in both English and Spanish is required.
