Senior Mechanical Engineer

Position Overview We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support business development and solution design for international automation projects. This is a Mexico-based role within a globally integrated automation company, combining local customer-facing engineering with strong global engineering and manufacturing capabilities, including teams in China. The position plays a key role in technical solution definition, customer engagement, and early-phase project development, supporting both regional and global business growth. Key Responsibilities 1. Solution Design & Technical Leadership - Lead mechanical concept development for customized automation systems Define system architecture, layouts, technical scope, and solution assumptions Evaluate feasibility, technical risks, and solution boundaries during early project stages Act as a senior mechanical authority in solution definition 2. Business Development & Sales Support - Support sales and business development teams with technical expertise Participate in customer meetings, workshops, and technical discussions (onsite and online) Translate customer needs into technically feasible and commercially competitive solutions Support opportunity qualification and go / no-go technical decisions 3. Pre-Sales Engineering & Proposal Support - Prepare and review technical concepts, layouts, and pre-sales documentation Provide reliable technical input for cost estimation and quotation Clarify technical requirements, specifications, and customer expectations 4. Customer Interface & Technical Communication - Act as a senior technical contact for customers during the pre-sales phase Present and explain technical solutions clearly and professionally Build trust with customers through strong technical credibility and responsiveness 5. Global Collaboration & Project Transition - Collaborate closely with international engineering and manufacturing teams, including China Ensure alignment between local customer requirements and global delivery capabilities Support smooth handover from solution phase to project execution teams Contribute to solution standardization and best-practice sharing across regions Qualifications Education - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related disciplines Experience & Technical Expertise - 5–10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering for automation systems or customized machinery Strong understanding of automation equipment, machine structures, and manufacturing processes Experience in concept development, application engineering, or technical sales support Ability to work at system and solution level, beyond detailed mechanical design Proficient in at least one major CAD system (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, CATIA, etc.) Language & Communication - Fluent English for professional technical and business communication Spanish as a native or working language Ability to communicate effectively with international teams and customers Mindset & Mobility - Open and positive attitude toward working in a global organization with Chinese engineering and manufacturing teams Willingness to travel within Mexico, North America, and occasionally internationally Strong communication, customer orientation, and problem-solving skills Ability to work autonomously while aligning with global processes Preferred Qualifications - Experience in automotive, battery, electronics (3C), or industrial automation Experience supporting North American customers or regional manufacturing plants Familiarity with CE standards, NFPA, and international safety regulations Previous experience working in multinational or Asian-headquartered companies What We Offer - Senior engineering role with direct impact on regional and global business development Exposure to international customers and cross-border automation projects Competitive local compensation aligned with the Mexican market Opportunities for long-term career growth within a global organization Collaborative, multicultural working environment
