Roles and Responsibility

Position Summary

The Cloud OperationsEngineer will support Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Linux/Windows environments.The Cloud Operations Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of theproduction lifecycle of maintenance, and administration, including but notlimited to infrastructure automation, continuous integration and deployment,product release and support, running a scalable production environment forhosting the ARCOS platform, maintaining application/database availability, andensuring continuous 24×7 production uptime of our services. Total experience4-7 years.

The Cloud OperationsEngineer needs to be familiar with AWS, Apache, Tomcat, PostgreSQL, Oracle,Ansible, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence and SaaS operations.

Responsibilities:

· Design, developand maintain scalable AWS solutions and infrastructure, including but notlimited to: EC2, RDS, S3, DynamoDB, Elasticache, and Route53.

· Develop tooling andprocesses to automate the deployment of SaaS based applications and theirunderlying operating systems and infrastructure.

· Perform PostgreSQL andOracle database administration, including maintenance, troubleshooting, tuning,optimization, installation, upgrades, backup/recovery, and datamigration.

· Partner withEngineering, Development, Quality Assurance, Professional Services, andTechnical Support to ensure the success of the assigned product offerings andschedules.

· Engage in Agile teampractices such as daily standups, backlog refinement, release planning andsprint planning.

· Coordinate configurationchanges, installs, and upgrades with appropriate development teams andproduct owners while following company change control procedures.

· Advise Architecture teamon infrastructure enhancements and services that will facilitate theoverall improvement (i.e. quality, features, cost, etc.) of the company’sproduct offerings.

· Research, evaluate andimplement new technologies based on company and product need.

· Participatein capacity planning to determine future infrastructure needs.

· Participate in 24×7on-call responsibilities, maintaining the availability and performance ofall customer-facing production services.

· Triageand participate in the resolution of complex problems, including networkconnectivity issues, that span multiple tiers ofapplication/infrastructure.

· Implement monitoring andreporting capabilities to assist engineering in rapidly identifyingissues.

· Actively monitorsupported systems and respond promptly to security or usability concerns.

· Review application logsand analyze events using cloud-native services (e.g. CloudWatch,CloudTrail) or third party SIEM tools (e.g. Splunk).

· Upgrade systems andprocesses as required for enhanced functionality and securitycompliance.

· Maintain product servicelevel agreements.

· Accurately document allprocesses and procedures for routine and non-routine tasks.

· All other duties andresponsibilities as assigned.

Desired Education, Skills & Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree inComputer Science or related field, or the equivalent knowledge and experienceor professional training, is required.

· Minimum 4 years ofsystem administration experience, ideally in global management and operationsof highly trafficked production applications. Experience working in a 24×7 SaaSenvironment is preferred.

· Minimum 4 years ofexperience designing solutions for and managing AWS services, including but notlimited to: EC2, RDS, S3, DynamoDB, Elasticache, WAF/Shield, Route53, IAM andDirectory Service.

· Experience with Linuxand Windows system administration, automation and performancetuning.

· Experience withconfiguration management and infrastructure as code tools such as Ansible andTerraform.

· Experience with Apache,Nginx, Tomcat, NodeJS/PM2.

· Experience withscripting languages, including Bash, Python and Powershell.

· Knowledge of CI/CDtechnologies and best practices.

· Knowledge of PostgreSQLDB, Oracle DB, Docker, Jira, Confluence.

· Advanced knowledge ofsystem vulnerability management and security best practices.

· Solid understanding ofnetworking concepts and troubleshooting.

· Proven ability to workeffectively with highly reliable and highly available mission criticaltechnologies with detail and results shown while meeting deadlines.

· Ability to operatedeployment automation, SaaS operations, internal and external SaaSinfrastructure, security and cost management.

· Solid understanding oftechnical issues and opportunities related to modern cloud infrastructure andoperations.

· Action oriented,decisive approach to work required, with the willingness to take a hands-onrole when needed to ensure deliverables are met on time.

· High energy, motivatedself-starter with ability to take direction and manage tasks with minimalsupervision within an energized, collaborative, and entrepreneurialenvironment.

· Excellent written andverbal communication skills.
