We are seeking a Principal Frontend Software Engineer to join our dynamic and innovative Engineering Team.
As part of this role, you will be responsible for architecting, designing, and constructing highly scalable distributed data systems that facilitate groundbreaking solutions in cloud-based video surveillance and IoT control systems. The ideal candidate will possess a track record of steering critical engineering and architectural decisions within development teams.
You should demonstrate the ability to offer robust technical guidance, immerse yourself in resolving intricate system design challenges, and foster an environment conducive to learning and knowledge sharing. Your pivotal role will involve shaping the architecture and development of modern cloud-native applications while driving decisions related to technology and processes aimed at maximizing product performance, scalability, and reliability.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with product managers and technology teams to comprehend roadmap priorities, shaping product features that align with customer needs.
- Articulate design and architecture trade-offs, employing software design patterns to efficiently resolve complex engineering problems.
- Lead design and implementation following robust engineering design principles and best practices, emphasizing testability, maintainability, and scalability. Provide project design and estimates that align with both business and technology strategies during project scoping phases.
- Manage delivery velocity while upholding the quality of product releases.
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leads to make sound technical decisions and instill effective software engineering practices, particularly in the adoption of formal testing within the software development process.
- Identify areas of improvement within the codebase and drive initiatives for enhancement.
- Embrace the 'you build it, you run it' engineering principles.
- Advocate for good software engineering practices encompassing clean code principles, security, tech debt balance, TDD, and agile methodologies.
- Take ownership of diagnosing and resolving complex system technical issues and code defects.
- Collaborate with engineering leadership to establish a technical roadmap fostering innovation and product capability enhancement.
- Offer leadership insights regarding future technological advancements in coding tools, applications, and concepts.
- Collaborate with other principal engineers to establish an Engineering Community of Excellence (COE) to promote architecture, code, security reviews, innovative engineering, and knowledge sharing.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement, and ongoing learning.
- Identify and collaborate with SRE to implement automation opportunities that enhance software delivery cycle efficiency and Arcules product reliability.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- 7 - 15 years of experience in software engineering within a fast-paced environment.
- Expertise in React (17/18).
- Proficiency in at least one other programming language such as Golang, Python or Scala.
- Experience with RESTful APIs.
- Advanced experience with testing methodology and a strong command of TDD/DDD development practices.
- Understanding of composable and scalable architectures.
- Knowledge of responsive design principles and mobile-first development.
- Solid grasp of core web and browser concepts.
- Familiarity with public cloud infrastructure such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.Strong understanding of modern CICD methodologies and Git-based workflows.
- Clear and persuasive written and oral communication skills for effective leadership and communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with CSS frameworks like Tailwind CSS.
- Proficiency in Functional Programming/Reactive programming.
Nice to Have:
- MS degree (Computer Science) or equivalent.
- Skilled in Next.JS.
- Familiarity with GraphQL.
- Hands-on experience developing applications deployed on public cloud infrastructure such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
