México Law Office of Parag L. Amin, P.C. A tiempo completo

This job is not for everyone.    LawPLA is hiring an experienced Legal Assistant / Calendar Clerk to take full ownership of legal calendaring and deadline management.   This role is  NOT for you if you:   Don’t have at least two years of legal calendaring experience;  Need someone to double-check your work for you;  Work slowly;  If you are not a team player;  Can’t calculate deadlines.   But if you’re the kind of person who loves precision, thrives on rules-based deadlines, catches what other people miss, and takes pride in zero-miss calendaring—keep reading.   Company Overview   At the Law Office of Parag L. Amin, P.C. (“LawPLA”), we’re building a fast-growing firm with high standards and a culture centered on growth, teamwork, and results. If you’re looking for a place where performance matters, details matter, and your work directly impacts outcomes, you may love it here.   Company Video About Us:      The Anti-Sell: The Real Job   This role exists for one reason: the firm cannot miss deadlines. Ever.   That means:  Accuracy beats speed—but you still need to move fast.  You’ll be working with court notices, orders, service dates, discovery triggers, continuances, and moving targets.  You’ll sometimes have incomplete info, unclear orders, or conflicting dates—and you must raise issues immediately and push for clarity.  You’ll be expected to build redundancy (ticklers/reminders/follow-ups) and operate with a “no surprises” mindset.  This is “quietly high pressure”: when calendaring is done right, nobody notices. When it’s done wrong, everyone notices.   If reading that makes you tense, overwhelmed, or defensive, you won’t enjoy this role.   If reading that makes you think, “Good. That’s exactly the kind of responsibility I want,” you’re probably our person.   How This Actually Works (Day-to-Day):   This job is not “calendar entry.” This is deadline ownership.   On a normal day, you will:   Review incoming documents (notices, minute orders, proofs of service, pleadings, discovery, correspondence) and immediately identify what triggers deadlines.  Confirm the trigger date (filing date, service date, order date, hearing date, etc.).  Calculate the correct rules-based deadline(s) (court rules, statutes, service methods, and internal firm deadlines).  Enter deadlines into the firm’s calendar and create the matching ClickUp task(s) with clean naming, correct due dates, and clear notes.  Build redundancy so nothing slips: multiple reminders/ticklers, follow-ups, and “early warning” checkpoints.  Spot conflicts, missing info, unclear orders, and inconsistent dates and escalate them immediately.   If you need perfect information to do your job, you will struggle here.  If you know how to detect uncertainty early and force clarity before it becomes a crisis, you’ll thrive.   Position Overview:   LawPLA is hiring a Calendar Clerk / Calendaring Clerk to take full ownership of the firm’s calendaring systems, rules-based deadline calculations, and deadline task creation in ClickUp.   If you’ve worked in a California law firm for 2+ years and your primary responsibility has been managing a legal calendar/docket, we would love to meet you.   This is a full-time, remote position. Candidates outside the U.S. are welcome, but you must have your own reliable computer, dedicated workspace, and high-speed internet.   Our Core Values:   Growth, Integrity, Value, Proactivity, Accountability, Results, Dependability, Service.   What You’ll Do (This is the work)  Own and maintain the firm’s legal calendar so no deadline slips.  Calendar all critical events and deadlines, including court appearances, hearings, trials, CMCs/status conferences, mediation/MSC dates, filing deadlines, response deadlines, discovery deadlines/cutoffs, deposition deadlines, expert deadlines, and internal reminders/ticklers.  Calculate rules-based deadlines based on triggers (filing/service dates, notices, court orders) and update them when things change.  Review incoming documents (notices, minute orders, pleadings, proofs of service, discovery, correspondence) and identify date triggers/deadlines.  Enter/update deadlines across the firm’s systems (calendar, case management, and ClickUp) using clean naming conventions and clear details.  Create and maintain ClickUp tasks tied to deadlines (accurate due dates, assignment, notes/source references).  Proactively communicate/escalate urgent deadlines, conflicts, missing info, or unclear orders.  Support calendaring-adjacent scheduling (depositions, mediations, internal meetings/calls) as needed.  What You’ll Be Calendaring (Real World Context)  We handle California litigation. That means you will be calendaring deadlines tied to:  Court orders and minute orders  Filing and service triggers (including mail/e-service issues)  Discovery deadlines, cutoffs, deposition timing, and motion practice  Continuances and moving targets (dates change, and you must update everything cleanly)  If you have only worked in a general admin role and have never owned a litigation docket, this will be overwhelming.  If you’ve lived inside litigation calendaring and you love the rules-based nature of it, this is exactly your lane.   Requirements (Must-Haves) 1.5+ years in a California law firm where legal calendaring/docketing was your primary responsibility.  Proven experience calendaring and tracking court dates and rules-based deadlines (filing, service, response, discovery, statutory, internal).  Extremely strong attention to detail (you double-check everything).  Strong organization and time management in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.  Comfortable with systems/tools like Outlook/Google Calendar, case management software, and task management tools (like ClickUp).  Clear communication with attorneys and staff; ability to prioritize and handle interruptions without dropping the ball.   What “Success” Looks Like Here   You will likely thrive if you:  feel satisfied when systems are clean, consistent, and reliable  spot errors before they become problems  take ownership without being chased  escalate issues early (not after damage is done)  care about being the person the firm can trust with deadlines   Compensation and Benefits  $10–$12 USD/hour (approx. $1,600–$1,920/month), depending on experience/qualifications  Incentive compensation opportunities based on individual/team achievements  Vacation/PTO after a 90-day probationary period  Supportive, collaborative team environment   Work Arrangement   Full-time  Working hours: 9:00am–6:00pm Pacific (PST)   How to Apply (Read carefully — we filter for detail)  To be considered, you must email:  A link to a short video introducing yourself and answering:  Why are you the best person for the job?  Which one of the Firm’s core values resonates with you most and why?  Your resume   Send to: careers at lawpla.com   Subject line must be exactly: “Calendar Clerk – Last Name, First Name – Country” …and at the end of the subject line include (in parentheses) the citation for the California Code section that allows a successful party to get attorney’s fees for enforcement of an important right affecting the public interest.   Applicants who do not follow the instructions will not be considered. Please do not contact us in any manner other than as requested above.   If you want a role where precision matters, urgency is real, and accountability is non-negotiable, apply and show us you’re the person we can trust with deadlines.   If you want “easy,” skip this one.
