Java Developer – Investment/Financial Services About the Role We are seeking an experienced Java Developer to join our client's technology team within the investment domain. The ideal candidate has strong backend engineering experience, a solid understanding of financial markets, and the ability to build scalable, secure, and high‐performance applications that support complex trading, risk, and portfolio‐management operations. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain high‐performance Java applications for trading, risk analytics, portfolio management, and investment operations. Build and enhance microservices‐based architectures, RESTful APIs, and event‐driven systems. Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and quantitative teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Ensure low‐latency, high‐throughput, and secure code suitable for financial applications. Integrate systems with market‐data providers, clearing systems, exchanges, and custodians. Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following best practices and industry standards. Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and Agile ceremonies. Troubleshoot production issues and ensure stability of mission‐critical applications. Work closely with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments. Required Skills & Experience Up to 8 years of hands-on Java development experience. Strong proficiency in: Core Java, Java 8/11+ Spring / Spring Boot REST APIs & Microservices Multithreading, concurrency, data structures Experience with financial services, such as equities, fixed income, FX, derivatives, Portfolio management, order execution, or risk systems Solid experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging technologies SQL/NoSQL databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) Git, Jenkins, and CI/CD processes Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus. Nice to Have Knowledge of FIX protocol, market data feeds (Bloomberg, Reuters), or OMS/EMS systems. Experience with distributed systems and low‐latency application optimization. Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, or container orchestration. Understanding of DevOps and infrastructure‐as‐code. Soft Skills Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. Ability to work in a fast‐paced, highly regulated financial environment. Detail-oriented with a focus on stability and performance. Education Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
