Arcadis is looking to hire a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to support industrial construction projects in automotive sector with our Places Team business unit in our north Mexico area at the client site location in Saltillo Coahuila. This is an on-site role for a large client of the automotive sector.

The Electrical Engineer will develop and manage projects for the construction of new or modification to existing mixed use, commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings & structures, ensuring conformance with building codes.  Perform responsible, professional level mechanical analysis, building and inspections. A heavy portion of this role will be focused on infrastructure and industrial projects. Project experience in this area is expected.

• Position on a project-based contract basis with the possibility of extending it to an indefinite contract within the company
• Full time (40 hrs pw Monday to Friday)
• This position is located on the clientâs site

Role accountabilities:

• Prepares electrical designs and drawings of building facilities and building electrical systems including power, lighting, fire alarm, PA, IT, etc., using computer-aided tools (e.g. ETAP analytical software, CDEGS grounding software, Revit, AutoCad, and MicroStation CAD systems)
• Facilitate the administration of construction stage of Electrical Engineering Services in the Building Industry, especially in Industrial Buildings.
• Represent IBI and Engineer of Record at construction meetings and site reviews
• Conduct site reviews to ensure adherence to Contract Documents (drawings and specifications) and relevant code (CEC and BC Building Code) requirements
• Prepare and distribute site reviews reports
• Review of shop drawings
• Review of maintenance manuals
• Review NOCs, COs, estimates etc.
• Review and evaluate contractorâs claim for progress payment
• Assist to identify cost-effective solutions to design problems
• Leads electrical design teams on larger multi-discipline projects
• Liaises internally with project managers and other discipline project leaders to obtain project information and to discuss specific design related problems
• Liaise with Coordinating Professional, other Consultants, Owner and Contractors
• Assists in creating and presenting technical reports regarding the nature, status, and results of design or study assignments
• Requires the ability to recognize the implications of assigned work on the work of other disciplines, and ensures the necessary coordination occurs
• Provide interpretation for technical drawings and specifications
• Issue Notice of Changes and evaluate proposed costs for additional and/or deletion of items to the contract
• Review reports from testing agencies
• Work closely with Engineer of Record and project team members

Qualifications and Experience:

• A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering plus 8-10 yearsâ experience in buildings electrical systems design preferred in a consulting environment
• Masterâs degree would be beneficial
• Full command of verbal and written English communication skills
• Strong skills in the use of the REVIT modeling system is an asset
• Electrical design and specification experience in the following building systems: power distribution in buildings, lighting design, fire alarm systems, card access and camera security systems, PA systems, telecommunications systems and audio-visual systems
• Experience in the electrical engineering or electrical trade, specifically extra low voltage systems, in the building construction industry
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the Mexican and International Electrical Safety Codes

• Strong written and verbal communications skills with working experience in leading meetings and making presentations
• Working knowledge and application of building code and electrical code.
• Working knowledge of construction law
• Working knowledge of lump sum or stipulated sum design/bid/build, design-build, and construction management delivery models
• Must be proficient in using Microsoft office suites (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.)
• Working knowledge and experience with online collaboration and project management tools such as NewForma, OneHub, BIM360, Sharepoint/OneDrive, Aconex or similar
