Join to apply for the Lead DevOps Engineer role at Remote Crew. We’re looking for a hands‑on Lead DevOps Engineer to join a remote‑first team and take full ownership of our production infrastructure. This role is focused on building, scaling, and securing cloud‑native systems across AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform, while ensuring compliance with SOC 2 standards. This is a high‑impact position for someone who combines strategic thinking with strong execution. You’ll define the DevOps roadmap for a small team while remaining deeply involved as a senior individual contributor, balancing startup speed with operational excellence. You’ll collaborate closely with US‑based stakeholders and play a critical role in stabilizing and hardening production systems. Location: Remote (LATAM or Portugal) Responsibilities Own, operate, and evolve all production infrastructure across AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform with a strong security‑first approach. Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, container build processes, and automated security scanning. Implement and maintain SOC 2 controls, including logging, access management, change management, backups, disaster recovery, and vulnerability management. Establish and manage centralized logging, monitoring, alerting, and incident response for production environments. Translate security, compliance, and operational requirements into scalable technical architectures and workflows. Define and execute the DevOps strategy and delivery roadmap for a small team while contributing directly as a senior engineer. Break down high‑level infrastructure and security goals into pragmatic, sequenced delivery plans suitable for a startup environment. Lead, mentor, and support other DevOps engineers, strengthening existing infrastructure foundations. Communicate clearly in writing and collaborate effectively with US‑based stakeholders. Requirements 6–10 years of experience operating and scaling production SaaS infrastructure. Deep expertise with AWS, including IAM, VPC, RDS or Aurora, S3, EKS, CloudWatch, and CloudTrail. Strong hands‑on experience with Kubernetes and Terraform, with full infrastructure ownership. Expertise in CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions or similar), containerization, and security scanning tools. Proven experience implementing SOC 2 controls in live production environments. Solid background in logging, monitoring, alerting, and incident response. Ability to translate security and compliance requirements into technical and operational processes. Experience defining and executing DevOps strategies and roadmaps for small teams. Startup experience, with a track record of stabilizing and hardening underbuilt infrastructure. Proficiency in English at a C2 level.
