Based in Oceanside, California, K2 Systems supports our North American clients and market development with a broad set of capabilities including product development, sales, marketing, project services, manufacturing, supply chain and logistics.Position OverviewThe Quality & Supplier Development professional will play a critical role in ensuring product quality, supplier performance, and supply‑chain resilience. This role partners closely with suppliers, engineering, and internal stakeholders to establish robust quality controls, manage nonconformances, and support sourcing decisions that balance cost, quality, and risk.The position oversees incoming and in‑process quality activities, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and supports procurement efforts through supplier qualification, competitive sourcing, and cost analysis. The ideal candidate brings a strong mix of hands‑on quality expertise and strategic supplier management capabilities.Quality & ComplianceEstablish and execute incoming inspection plans, including AQL sampling, special characteristics, and verification of certificates of conformity, material certifications, country of origin, lot traceability, labeling, and packaging.Conduct first article inspections (FAI), including dimensional and functional verification against drawings, review of material certifications, and documentation of results.Lead nonconformance management activities, including containment actions, supplier corrective action requests (SCARs), 8D/root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions.Perform in‑process audits, including line walks, workstation inspections, control plan adherence, work instruction compliance, SPC review, and reaction plan execution.Review and approve engineering changes and PCNs; coordinate revalidation activities following approved changes.Maintain, review, and continuously improve quality documentation, procedures, and inspection records.Supplier Quality & Procurement SupportIdentify and evaluate new suppliers through industry directories, referrals, and market research.Support sourcing initiatives through development of RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs, and participation in competitive bidding processes.Conduct should‑cost modeling and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis, including logistics, duties, and taxes.Benchmark supplier pricing, lead times, and quality performance against incumbent suppliers.Support dual‑sourcing strategies and risk‑balanced supplier allocation to improve supply continuity.Assess nearshoring and reshoring opportunities to mitigate risk and improve responsiveness.Lead supplier pre‑qualification activities, including evaluation of financial stability, production capacity, technical capability, and certifications.Desired Qualifications & RequirementsExperience working in a manufacturing, industrial, or regulated environment.Working knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or IATF 16949.Experience conducting supplier audits, assessments, or on‑site evaluations.Familiarity with SPC tools, control plans, PFMEA, and continuous improvement methodologies.Demonstrated experience driving supplier performance improvements and corrective actions.Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, cost models, and performance metrics.Experience with nearshoring, reshoring, or global supplier sourcing strategies.Familiarity with ERP, QMS, or supplier management systems.Ability to manage ambiguity, prioritize competing demands, and work independently.Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.Professional certifications such as CQE, CQA, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), or similar are a plus.General SummaryResponsible for overseeing compliance for import and export regulations in all MX sites and border crossing.Responsible for certifications and maintain a structure that anticipates new Import & Export regulations, sharing appropriate knowledge with primary internal customers to avoid economic and logistic impact to the business.Insure the existence of appropriate procedures, in accordance with company policies, International and Mexican trade compliance regulations.Provide support to areas as they demand, focusing on timely delivery of company products to final customers.Duties & ResponsibilitiesPlan and coordinate with the different entities in the country the implementation of import/export strategy and activities consistent with overall aims and requirements of the organization.Appropriately standardize and use the different programs of the country that allow the company to avoid the payment of importation and exportation duties across the different sites.Develop and manage key metrics across the country sites to continuously detect opportunities of improvement.Liaise with other departments to establish and maintain effective and relevant import/export activities.Create an effective communication with country leaders of purchasing, material management, production, logistics and sales organization to effectively operate department responsibilities.Anticipate, research and report on future changes in import/export laws and relevant local territory practices and ensure such knowledge is factored into the planning of the department’s own strategy, resources and procedures.Standardize and maintain up to date appropriately customs software to operate the in and out of material and equipment of the country in its different sites.Minimum Job SpecificationsBachelor’s Degree in related curriculum such as Trade compliance or international business.5 years of experience on Import and Export regulations.Experience needed with logistics suppliers, import export agencies and shipping.Knowledge of Annex 24 applications such as SEER or other annex 24 and 31.Inventory management knowledge and BOM analysis.Intermediate‑advanced English, capable of simple business conversation.Knowledge of México and USA customs regulations, and international trade law compliance.I&E Invoicing under any regime.Experience on C-TPAT and OEA certifications.Experienced professional with rich knowledge of Anexo 24, Anexo 30, IMMEX/PROSEC is preferred.I. Daily WorkComplete the relevant transportation, customs clearance, and case closure procedures for the company's products from the origin to the destination.Monitor the status of logistics and customs clearance, calculate the involved data, complete system entry and backfilling, and file the relevant documents.Complete the customs procedures related to the company's bonded business.Ensure the accuracy of the company's bonded data and that the company's related business operations comply with customs supervision requirements.Arrange transportation methods and vehicle loading to meet economic transportation requirements.II. Assisting WorkComplete the service evaluation, assessment, and management of logistics suppliers.Assist relevant departments in providing customs declaration‑related documents and materials.Feedback and collect government policy requirements, implement the bonded and duty reduction and exemption management system, and ensure the implementation of new policies.III.
