HSBC Global Service Center (GSC) is looking for an experienced Operations Engineer to join our Shared Platform Services Team in Azcapotzalco, Mexico City, Mexico. Role Purpose As an Operations Engineer, you will ensure timely and effective patching of systems and software across the critical IT services owned by the Digital Business Automation platform. You will work closely with other IT teams to identify and implement security patches and updates, maintaining secure, compliant infrastructure while upholding quality standards. Role Expectations Monitor and deploy patches and updates for operating systems and applications to ensure security and functionality. Work with security teams to identify and assess vulnerabilities and prioritize patching activities. Maintain detailed records of patching activities and provide regular reports on status and compliance. Implement automated patching processes and tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention. Coordinate patching efforts with other IT teams to minimize service disruptions. Troubleshoot and remediate issues from patching, ensuring minimal downtime. Ensure patch processes align with internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Stay current with latest vulnerabilities and recommend improvements to patching strategies. Qualifications Essential Hands‑on administration of Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems. Experience scripting (PowerShell, Bash) for automation. Experience with IT Service Management (Change, Incident, Problem) and understanding of OLAs and SLAs. Experience with DevOps processes and Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban). Knowledge of cryptography (SSL/TLS) security. Experience in high‑availability environments. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Ability to manage self‑workload and meet customer expectations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Fluent English (advanced C1 level). Strong attention to detail and proactive approach to managing patching activities. Commitment to standards and governance. Desirable Experience administering Veritas Cluster Server. Experience with ServiceNow, Confluence, Jira. Knowledge of products such as Sterling Integrator, Sterling File Gateway, Connect:Direct, Control‑M. Language Level Advanced English proficiency (C1).
