OFFICE TECHNOLOGIES: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (college credit and continuing education) Classification Title: OFFICE TECHNOLOGIES: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (college credit and continuing education) Working Title: Adjunct Faculty Location: District Wide Pay Information: Salary is determined by official transcripts and verification of prior work experience. Initial placement is at the first class/step until all documentation is submitted. FLSA Status: Exempt (does not accrue overtime) Position Type: Adjunct Bargaining Unit: AFT/College Faculty The Position Areas included in this discipline: secretarial skills, office systems, word processing, computer applications, automated office training, and computer business technology. The San Diego Community College District accepts applications for adjunct (part‑time/substitute) positions on a continuous basis for our three college campuses (City, Mesa, Miramar) and various continuing education centers. Applicants will be added to an adjunct pool for potential assignments in fall, spring, and/or summer semesters of the academic year. Positions are as‑needed and applicants should live within commuting distance to San Diego. Major Responsibilities Teach lecture and lab classes as determined by the department. Provide instruction in accordance with the established curriculum and course outlines. Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics. Maintain current knowledge in subject matter areas. Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member. Teach all scheduled classes. Maintain accurate records. Create and maintain an environment that emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests, and issues. Qualifications Any bachelor’s degree and at least two (2) years of experience; ORAny associate degree and at least six (6) years of experience; ORPossession of a California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) in Office Services and Related Technologies; OREquivalent qualifications. Desired Qualifications Equivalency through the Request for Equivalency Form, if applicable. Foreign degree evaluated by a NACES or ACEI member institution; evaluation must be submitted with the application. Licenses/Certificates/Credentials Possession of a California Community College Instructor Credential in Office Services and Related Technologies (valid for life) is required. Special Instructions to Applicants Submit official college transcripts. Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (renew every four years). Have fingerprints taken by a LiveScan computer at the district’s expense; clearance must be received before first day of employment.
