Position Overview The General Manager is responsible for the full operational, financial, and strategic leadership of a high-volume plastic injection molding manufacturing facility serving domestic and export markets. This role carries complete P&L responsibility and is accountable for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth performance. The General Manager must build a disciplined, metrics-driven, lean manufacturing culture capable of supporting Tier-1 customers, international quality standards, and aggressive growth targets. This position requires deep knowledge of plastic injection molding, tooling, automation, workforce management, and cross-border supply chains. Core Responsibilities 1. Plant Leadership & Operations Direct all day-to-day manufacturing operations including molding, secondary operations, assembly, packaging, and logistics. Ensure production schedules are met with optimal machine utilization, labor efficiency, and material yield. Drive OEE, scrap reduction, uptime, and throughput improvement programs. Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant manufacturing environment (STPS, OSHA-equivalent, fire, and environmental regulations). 2. Financial & P&L Management Own full plant P&L, including budgeting, cost controls, margin improvement, and capital planning. Establish and manage KPI systems for: Cost per part Labor efficiency Scrap and regrind usage Tooling ROI Inventory turns EBITDA contribution Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. 3. Engineering, Tooling & Process Control Oversee: Mold design, launch, maintenance, and lifecycle management Process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) Scientific molding practices Automation and robotics Ensure robust process controls, SPC, and documentation are in place for all customer programs. Lead new product launches and production transfers. 4. Quality & Compliance Maintain world-class quality systems: ISO 9001 ISO 13485 IATF 16949 Customer-specific requirements Ensure corrective action systems (8D, FMEA, SPC) are rigorously followed. Drive zero-defect culture and customer satisfaction. 5. Supply Chain & Logistics Manage raw materials, resin sourcing, packaging, spare parts, and tooling. Control inventory levels and working capital. Coordinate cross-border shipping to the U.S. and other export markets. Ensure vendor quality, delivery, and pricing discipline. 6. People & Organizational Leadership Lead and develop: Production managers Engineers Supervisors Quality, maintenance, and support teams Build a high-accountability culture focused on continuous improvement. Implement structured training programs for operators, technicians, and supervisors. Maintain strong labor relations and compliance with Mexican labor law. 7. Strategic Growth & Customer Interface Support new business development, RFQs, cost modeling, and capacity planning. Act as senior plant interface for key customers, audits, and program launches. Identify opportunities for: Automation Vertical integration Cost reduction New markets or customers Key Performance Metrics On-time delivery (OTD) OEE and machine utilization Scrap and rework Cost per molded part EBITDA and gross margin Customer PPM and returns Safety and compliance Employee turnover and productivity Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field (MBA preferred). 10+ years of experience in plastic injection molding manufacturing. 5+ years in senior plant leadership or General Manager role. Demonstrated success managing multi-shift operations with 50–300+ employees. Strong understanding of: Mold design and maintenance Resin behavior and processing Automation and robotics Quality systems and customer audits Fluent Spanish and English required.
