The Engineering Manager leads a team of R&D engineers responsible for production line transfers, design-for-manufacturability execution, and sustaining engineering activities within a high-volume production environment. The role bridges Global Product R&D and Operations, ensuring that product designs are successfully translated into robust, scalable manufacturing solutions.Key Responsibilities:Lead and manage the Mexicali Engineering teamOwn execution of production line transfers, including new programs, site transfers, and dual sourcingDefine and approve the assembly process architecture during line transfer, including assembly sequence, station breakdown, and technical requirementsDrive design alterations and part derivatives to improve manufacturability, yield, and robustnessServe as the primary technical interface between Global Product Engineering, Operations, and QualityApprove engineering solutions related to fixtures, detection and prevention methods, rework, and validationProvide technical leadership for root cause analysis and corrective actions on complex production issuesEnsure effective testing and verification strategies are implemented during transfers and sustaining activitiesSupport sample builds, First Article approvals, and transfer validation readinessDevelop team capability in DFM/DFA, process understanding, and industrialization best practicesManage priorities, resource allocation, and technical risk across multiple programsScope & Authority:Technical decision-making authority for manufacturing-related design changes within the approved design envelopeOwnership of R&D execution deliverables for line transfer and industrializationInfluence (but not ownership) over Operations PFMEA and manufacturing process documentationKey Interfaces:Global Product R&D and NPI teamsOperations and Manufacturing EngineeringQuality and Reliability EngineeringSupply Chain, tooling, and test equipment suppliersCustomers (as needed for technical discussions)Success Metrics:On-time and successful production line transfersStable ramp-up yields and reduced post-transfer issuesEffectiveness of design alterations and derivativesReduction in rework and engineering-driven escapesTesting and verification cycle timeRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering (Master’s preferred)10+ years of experience in connector, cable assembly, or power interconnect engineeringProven experience leading engineering teams in a production environmentStrong background in power connectors, crimping systems, and cable assembliesDemonstrated experience with production transfers and industrializationDesired Skills & Attributes:Strong DFM/DFA mindsetHands-on technical leadership styleAbility to work cross-functionally and influence without direct authorityStructured problem-solving skills (8D, root cause analysis)Clear communication in English; Spanish proficiency strongly preferredExperience working in a global engineering organization #J-18808-Ljbffr
