Data Engineer Join S&P Global as a Data Engineer in our Commodity Insights division. Working in Mexico City or virtual in Colombia, you will be part of the Data Science and Modelling group responsible for developing and automating analytics processes that support commodity analytics across the entire value chain. About The Role The role focuses on enriching datasets and adding value to analytics content through collaboration with onsite and offshore teams. You will design and implement advanced strategic solutions, migrate legacy processes, and enable data governance, automation, data quality monitoring, and maintenance. Responsibilities Create commodity models using predictive modelling, statistical, and econometric techniques. Understand, implement, manage, and maintain analytical solutions independently. Collaborate with data, content, and product management teams, providing analytical assistance for commodity datasets. Execute projects with discipline and deliver appropriate documentation. Work closely with stakeholders to collect, clean, model, and visualise datasets. Extract hidden insights and enhance dataset accuracy. Leverage technology to automate workflows, creating modernised operational processes aligned with team strategy. What We’re Looking For S&P Global Commodity Insights seeks an experienced analyst or modeler who can translate subject‑matter expertise and develop new insights for commodity‑related models. You will lead projects from concept to implementation and retirement, coordinating junior analysts and driving end‑to‑end analytical modelling initiatives. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or related disciplines. Fluent English (conversational and written). Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role. Experience with end‑to‑end analytical modelling projects: problem scoping, data gathering, modelling, insights, visualisations, monitoring, and maintenance. Demonstrated ability to build constructive relationships with technology partners, stakeholders, and internal/external users. Experience with data automation and machine learning. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Experience using SQL, Excel, and Python. Preferred Requirements Master’s degree, preferably in economics, engineering, or a related field. Experience working as an analyst in the commodity space. Experience building high‑quality solutions and leading processes in an Agile development environment. Experience with big‑data processing engines and large‑scale data analytics tools. Familiarity with modern AI tools such as copilot, ChatGPT, and CI/CD pipelines.
