Responsibilities The SolarWinds Administrator will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the use of the SolarWinds platform which includes WAN/LAN and server monitoring, reporting, and alerting. Provide expertise to leverage MIBs, OIDs, and WMI performance counters to diagnose and troubleshoot network problems. Review business requirements and improve monitoring of the Orion Platform. Plan and execute system software installations, upgrades, and changes across the organization. Manage simple and distributed Orion architecture with multiple additional pollers and other scalability engines. Restore archived data and report in support of SLA disputes or historical performance analysis. Design/Enhance and manage complex alerts, reports via simple and complex conditions or using SQL queries. VMware, vSphere & vCenter management and administration. Expertise/Experience in administrating Windows Server. Optimizing loads of large volumes of data into a database (a plus). Hands‑on experience on MS‑SQL Databases & SQL language. DB and SQL tuning reviews/assessments, and query monitoring. Oversee and test system disaster recovery. Detect and verify performance issues and determine scope. Collect and analyze network monitoring data to determine cause of the performance issue. Review Orion and optimize its performance. Customize Orion web console and custom properties, views, and menu bars to meet client business needs. Create and maintain Orion maps, including online diagrams of server rooms, MDFs and IDFs. Perform other IT duties as assigned by the Information Systems Manager. Travel up to 10% Requirements 5+ years of hands‑on experience installing, troubleshooting SolarWinds on the front and back‑end. Expertise in the administration, support, and operation of the Orion SolarWinds platform including NPM, NCM, SAM, NTA, VNQM, and IPAM. Expertise in the use of network management protocols (SNMP, SNMP Traps, Syslog, ICMP, NetFlow, etc.). Knowledge of and experience with LAN/WAN and Data Center and Cloud based environments. SolarWinds Platform products release upgrade experience. MS SQL Server Administration experience. VMware vSphere experience. Knowledge and experience writing technical documents for an IT environment, including procedures for disaster recovery for IT infrastructure. Preferences Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
