Position Import‑Export Analyst – High‑volume glass plant, H. Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico Responsibilities Prepare and manage customs documentation for imports and exports between the U.S. and Mexico, ensuring regulatory compliance for both temporary and permanent shipments. Classify and report goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule and work with customs brokers to prevent classification errors. Ensure finished goods meet USMCA and other trade agreement requirements, including IMMEX, Rule 8, and PROSEC. Maximize duty reductions and minimize penalties through accurate documentation and compliance. Prepare export documentation, including for scrap returns, and maintain adherence to U.S. and Mexican regulations. Monitor cross‑border trade operations and resolve any import/export issues promptly. Coordinate movement of goods across the U.S.–Mexico border with logistics teams and customs brokers to ensure timely deliveries. Track shipments and verify that all documentation meets regulatory standards for both U.S. and Mexican authorities. Upload new finished goods and part numbers into the appropriate customs systems (e.g., Cumple) and collaborate with internal teams and external brokers for data accuracy. Review and verify consolidated pedimentos for payment processing, ensuring accuracy to avoid penalties. Stay current with changes in U.S. and Mexican trade laws, incorporating adjustments into company procedures. Provide internal training on regulatory changes and best practices. Prepare and control U.S. customs documents separating cost of raw material (glass) from other origins. Verify export eligibility of finished goods for USMCA. Share customs broker reports for entry closing. Request duty information from U.S. customs broker as needed. Prepare monthly reports of duty cost avoidance. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Logistics, Customs Management, or a related field. At least 3 years of import/export experience, preferably along the U.S.–Mexico border. In‑depth knowledge of customs regulations, international trade agreements, and tariff classification. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and trade compliance software. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills in English and Spanish; ability to navigate complex compliance discussions with authorities. Strong understanding of U.S. and Mexican customs regulations, tariff schedules, IMMEX, USMCA, and other trade mechanisms. Systems programming knowledge; ability to manage Access, SQL, and other database programs. Capability to analyze Bill of Materials and integrate MRP data into Import/Export documents. Experience applying tariff preference mechanisms to reduce duty payments. Intermediate Excel skills and at least 60% proficiency in English for written and spoken communication.
