The Senior Manager, Mexico Public Policy, will lead Amazon’s public policy team in Mexico, developing and executing government affairs advocacy objectives and political priorities for Amazon in the country. He or she will effectively educate key government officials and their staff on Amazon’s business in Mexico and on policy issues that impact our businesses, customers, and employees. The Senior Manager will work collaboratively with business units, Legal, PR, and other internal operations teams to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals. He or she will assess and communicate potential government activities back to the business, develop mitigation or enhancement strategies and positions, and help coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and key initiatives in concert with business objectives. The Senior Manager will facilitate high‑level meetings for executives and business leaders with key policymakers and other relevant stakeholders in Mexico. This position reports to the Director, Public Policy, and works closely with other public policy team members to execute on goals. It is based in Mexico City, Mexico. Key job responsibilities The Senior Manager will lead Amazon’s public policy team in Mexico, developing and executing advocacy objectives, advising government officials, coordinating with internal teams, and facilitating executive meetings with key policymakers. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent 12+ years of experience working directly with government officials and regulatory bodies At least 12 years of relevant public policy experience, a keen understanding of the Mexican government and public policy environment, and broad government relations strategy experience Ability and desire to travel required Preferred Qualifications Experience working in or with multinational companies Demonstrated ability to be both a substantive issue expert on matters related to Amazon’s business and a manager of complex regulatory and political issues Expert understanding of Mexico’s legislative and regulatory policymaking processes Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience creating and delivering factual, relevant, and easily understandable talking points and other messaging Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
