Test Development Engineer

The Test Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and functionality of our electronic products through the development and implementation of robust testing procedures and methodologies. The Test Engineer will lead process development and improvement initiatives in coordination with Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, Warehouse and Production Staff. The Test Engineer is responsible for the testing of electronic products in-house to ensure that when delivered, it meets customer functional and quality expectations. The Test Engineer works closely with customer engineering to set up pass/fail limits, develop and implement the final test strategy. This role will establish and enhance manufacturing test processes, effective cost approaches in order to drive for continuous improvements and higher quality/coverage. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field completed. Minimum of 3 years of experience in test engineering within the electronics manufacturing industry, preferably in an EMS environment; hardware and software development experience required. Experience with Test Expert, Testway and MES - Manufacturing Execution Systems preferred. Experience with National Instruments, PXI and VXI Systems. Proficiency in programming languages such as LabVIEW/CVI/Teststand, Python, JTAG/BSCAN Methodology or C++ and related development toolsets for developing automated test solutions. Strong understanding of electronics manufacturing processes, including PCB assembly, soldering, and component‑level testing. Hands‑on experience with electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, and spectrum analyzers. Knowledge of industry standards and protocols relevant to electronic product testing, including ICT, FCT, and boundary scan. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement effective solutions. Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high‑quality results within established timelines. Self‑starter, a team player, good communication skills and able to handle multiple tasks smoothly. Excellent knowledge of design for test, coverage and related functional test specifications including detailed schematic analysis. Effective problem‑solving and organization skills. Effective technical communication (both written and verbal). Excellent knowledge of process fixtures design (solder pallets, work holders, etc.). Experience with common EMS Test Platforms including AOI, X‑Ray, ICT, BSCAN, Flying Probe and Functional Test. Expert failure analysis and troubleshooting skills. Strong understanding, verbal and written of English and Spanish languages required. Responsibilities Develop and implement test strategies, plans, and procedures for electronic products manufactured at the Juarez facility in alignment with customer specifications. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Engineering, Engineering Production, Production, Program Management, Supply Chain/Warehouse and Quality Assurance to ensure effective integration of testing processes into the product life‑cycle. Design, develop, and maintain automated test systems and equipment to streamline testing processes and enhance efficiency. Conduct thorough analysis of test results and provide timely feedback to relevant stakeholders, including recommendations for process improvements and corrective actions. Troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues related to test equipment, software, and product performance, and implement appropriate solutions. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations governing product testing, including ISO, IPC, and customer‑specific requirements. Participate in new product introduction (NPI) activities, including testability reviews and validation testing, to ensure seamless transition from design to production. Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing test methodologies, reducing test cycle times, and enhancing overall product quality. Provide technical support and guidance to production teams during testing operations, including training on test procedures and equipment usage.
