Job Title: Shopify Team Lead / Architect Position Type: Contract Duration: 3 months initially, extend to 6-9 months Location: Remote – South or Central America (working to EST hours) Job Description Our client, an e‑commerce agency, seeks a highly skilled Shopify Team Lead / Architect to oversee the development and delivery of e‑commerce initiatives. The role involves deep technical expertise in Shopify Plus, payment gateway and payment solution integrations, OMS/middleware integrations, Avalara tax systems, and custom checkout implementations. This is a leadership position within the offshore technical team, responsible for guiding developers, ensuring solution quality, and driving integration excellence. Lead and mentor a team of Shopify developers to deliver scalable, high‑performing e‑commerce solutions. Architect, design, and oversee implementation of custom Shopify storefronts, checkout flows, and integration with third‑party systems. Drive end‑to‑end integrations with payment gateways and payment solutions (e.g., Stripe, Adyen, PayPal), Avalara tax systems or other automated tax calculation platforms, and order management systems (OMS) and middleware platforms. Conduct code reviews, enforce development best practices, and ensure performance, reliability, and security standards are met. Qualifications 6+ years of experience in Shopify/Shopify Plus development, with at least 2 years in a technical lead role managing teams. Deep understanding of Shopify APIs (REST/GraphQL), Liquid templating, and custom app development. Proven hands‑on experience in integration of payment gateways and payment solutions (e.g., Stripe, Adyen, Braintree, PayPal), custom checkout design and optimization, OMS/middleware integration in enterprise e‑commerce environments, and tax system integration, ideally with Avalara.
