Basketball Coach The American School Foundation, A.C. is seeking a Basketball Coach to join our Athletics and Extended Learning Division. This role is dedicated to nurturing both the character and athletic abilities of our student‑athletes across various levels, from Lower School through graduation of Upper School. Positions are contingent on community need and demand, with contracts concluding on the last day of May. Our ideal candidate is an experienced and passionate coach who can create a positive and inclusive team environment, prioritize fundamentals, and maintain increasing competitiveness as athletes progress. Schedule Monday: 2:30–6:30 PM Tuesday: 2:30–6:30 PM Wednesday: 2:30–4:30 PM Thursday: 2:30–6:30 PM Friday: 5:45–7:30 AM Competitions/Travel Key Responsibilities Plan, organize, and conduct regular team practices focusing on skill development, strategy, and conditioning. Develop and implement effective plans and strategies for competition. Provide individual and team instruction, guiding athletes to improve performance and understanding of the sport. Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, respect, and teamwork. Monitor and support the academic progress of student‑athletes, promoting a balance between academics and athletics. Evaluate and recruit potential student‑athletes, ensuring the continued success and competitiveness of the team. Collaborate with other coaches and staff to coordinate training programs, schedules, and resources. Ensure the safety and well‑being of all team members during practices, competitions, and other activities. Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and the broader school community regarding team activities and performance. Adhere to all school and division policies and regulations, as well as the guidelines of relevant sports associations and leagues. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with coaching techniques and best practices. Utilize technology, data, and statistics to improve coaching practices and team performance. Engage with the broader school community and involve the team in community activities. Demonstrate emotional intelligence and effectively resolve conflicts within the team and with colleagues. Education Bachelor's degree in a sport‑related field, such as Physical Education (preferred). Relevant coaching certifications (preferred). CPR and First Aid certification (preferred). Skills Proven experience in the desired field of coaching or in a similar coaching role. Deep understanding of the specific sport and its rules, strategies, and techniques. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to inspire and motivate student‑athletes to reach their full potential. Experience conducting team practices, developing game plans, and managing competitions. Additional Qualifications College or professional athlete experience (preferred). Fluent level conversational English (preferred).
