Bargaining Unit: AFT/College Faculty.DepartmentDistrict Wide.The PositionTHIS DISCIPLINE INCLUDES AREAS: Earth Science, Geology, Oceanography. San Diego Community College District accepts applications for adjunct positions for three campus and continuing education centers. If you meet minimum qualifications, application included in adjunct pool. Hiring departments contact if qualifications sought. Applications purged approx one year. Part-time positions flexible hours. Applicants should live within commuting distance to San Diego. Assignments may combine day, evening, weekend, off-campus classes.Major ResponsibilitiesPrimary duties related to curriculum and teaching; lecture and lab classes as determined by department.Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.Maintain current knowledge in subject matter areas.Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.Teach all scheduled classes.Maintain accurate records.Provide quality instruction, create and maintain environment emphasizing teaching and learning and encouraging free discussion of ideas.QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Master’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, Earth Sciences, Meteorology, Oceanography, or Paleontology; ORBachelor’s degree in Geology AND Master’s degree in Geography, Physics, or Geochemistry; OREquivalentDemonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.Desired QualificationsEquivalency: If exact degrees not possessed or anticipated, complete Request for Equivalency Form and attach during application process.Foreign Degree EvaluationForeign degrees from outside US must have coursework evaluated by professional association member of NACES or ACEI.
