System Development Engineer I, Kindle Ingestion and Expansion (KIX) We’re looking for a System Development Engineer I to join the Kindle Ingestion and Expansion (KIX) team. The team enables independent authors, content creators and publishers to publish eBooks and print formats across Amazon’s global marketplaces, using state‑of‑the‑art Print on Demand technology. The KIX Support and Systems Development Engineering team provides Tier 2 & 3 production support and works closely with product and operations teams on software releases and deployment. The role requires learning quickly, multitasking and delivering results across overlapping responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Provide infrastructure support for incoming system tickets, including comprehensive troubleshooting across multiple products. Work on maintenance‑driven coding projects, primarily in Java and AWS technologies. Support software deployment in staging and production environments. Develop tools to aid operations and maintenance. Communicate system and support status reports. Own one or more digital products or components. Improve infrastructure, operational performance and stability. Participate in design, code and procedures reviews. Identify opportunities from technical discussions and evaluate trade‑offs. Analyze root causes, research and resolve defects thoroughly. Lead company‑wide campaigns with Support and Engineering teams to closure. Maintain compliance risks for internal systems. Lead large‑scale projects such as migration to native, pipeline automation and closure. Basic Qualifications Experience automating, deploying and supporting infrastructure. Programming experience with one modern language (Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust). Experience with Linux/Unix systems. Preferred Qualifications Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build processes.
