OverviewPOSITION TITLE: Director of Engineering – FrontendWe are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering – Frontend to lead multiple frontend development teams responsible for building and maintaining highly scalable, user-centric, and performance-critical web applications and platforms. In this role, you will focus on frontend engineering excellence, delivery execution, team leadership, and operational maturity. You will partner closely with the Director of Architecture, Product Owner(s), UX/UI Design, Backend Engineering, Security, and other cross-functional leaders to ensure frontend applications are accessible, performant, secure, and aligned with enterprise architectural and design standards. The ideal candidate is a modern frontend engineering leader with deep knowledge of contemporary frontend frameworks and ecosystems, experience scaling design systems and frontend platforms, and a passion for enabling teams through AI-assisted development, automation, and continuous improvement.ResponsibilitiesLead, mentor, and grow engineering managers and senior frontend engineers across multiple teams delivering complex user-facing applications.Drive consistent execution of frontend development, testing, deployment, and support practices across teams.Establish and evolve modern frontend engineering best practices, standards, and patterns across frameworks and platforms.Ensure strong expertise and governance across major frontend technologies and frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue, Next.js, Web Components).Champion performance optimization, accessibility (WCAG), responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility.Promote and operationalize the use of AI-assisted coding tools, intelligent UI testing, visual regression testing, and frontend development accelerators.Partner with UX/UI and Product leaders to translate product and design requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.Guide teams in building modular, reusable component libraries and enterprise design systems.Ensure frontend applications align with enterprise architectural standards, security requirements, and API integration patterns.Collaborate closely with Backend, Platform, and DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration, reliability, and scalability.Ensure frontend development follows secure-by-design principles, including dependency management, secure client-side practices, and compliance readiness.Drive continuous improvement in frontend performance metrics, reliability, developer experience, and operational resilience.Minimum Qualifications10+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years leading frontend or full-stack engineering teams.Proven experience delivering large-scale, consumer- or enterprise-facing web applications.Deep hands-on knowledge of modern frontend frameworks and technologies such as React, Angular, Vue, Next.js, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript.Strong understanding of frontend architecture, state management, build tooling, bundlers, and CI/CD pipelines.Experience scaling frontend platforms, shared component libraries, and design systems.Direct experience enabling teams with AI-assisted frontend development and testing tools.Demonstrated ability to execute complex initiatives in partnership with architecture, product, and design leadership.Proven ability to build, recruit, and scale high-performing frontend engineering teams.Preferred QualificationsExperience leading frontend development for large-scale SaaS or platform-based products.Familiarity with micro-frontend architectures and module federation.Strong understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG), internationalization, and localization.Experience with frontend performance monitoring, observability, and analytics tools.Exposure to automation or AI-enabled developer productivity tooling.Background working in regulated or security-conscious environments.About The CompanyDeluxe, a subsidiary of Platinum Equity, is a global leader in media and entertainment services for film, video, and online content.
