Position Summary The KPS Engineer is responsible for managing business improvement projects as a dynamic change agent using engineering and lean tools to deliver breakthrough levels of improvement in operational costs, quality, performance and safety. The role will train and facilitate activities in manufacturing, non-manufacturing and administrative work areas, and help sustain and improve OEE System. Essential Functions Execute and apply KPS strategy, tools and techniques in implementation of manufacturing excellence initiatives. Plan, execute and manage projects to complete continuous improvement of products. Lead value stream mapping exercises to determine and record business improvement areas. Manage a portfolio of lean projects directed at reducing waste and improving quality, using tools such as 5S, KPI, SMED, VSM, and Kaizen. Manage and lead continuous improvement projects, mentoring and coaching Project leads as part of Cost Deployment strategy. Prepare layouts, detailed drawings, and other documentation to assist in improving manufacturing processes. Develop standard work, line balancing for productivity, and document visuals and process as required. Identify and track manufacturing cost reductions via Quick Kaizen, Standard, Major, and Advanced Kaizens or other Lean initiatives. Execute projects as needed. Act as a “leaser of change” comfortable working with all levels within the organization, questioning the status quo and communicating effectively. Skilled in lean manufacturing methodologies: Kaizen, Kanban, 5S, TPM, SMED, Six Sigma, Standard work, Value Stream Mapping and Visual Controls. Train and lead cross-functional continuous improvement teams to achieve measurable quality, service and cost improvements. Train, coach, and motivate personnel in the understanding and adoption of new principles and techniques. Develop and sustain employee training and development on lean concepts. Support KPS events, organizational development through understanding of concepts and practices. Maintain and improve OEE, shop floor management. Identify barriers to project success and solicit help when needed. Support Safety, Quality activities, procedures and other pillar initiatives with team members. Have authority to stop the production line when quality issues are detected. Perform additional required activities as the nature of the position dictates. Management & Supervisory Responsibilities Job is NOT directly responsible for managing other employees. Knowledge Strong PC skills & knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Project Management. Lean Tools. Experience 1–3 years Lean Manufacturing expertise leading continuous improvement projects and Kaizen events. Minimum of 1-year experience in the automotive manufacturing environment. Skills Bilingual (English/Spanish). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams and drive results. Effective problem solver, conducts unbiased analysis, identifies hidden problems, and achieves effective solutions. Team facilitation skills. Understanding of costing structure and quantitative analysis. Education/Certifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Operations Management. Green Belt Certification preferred. Strong Lean Manufacturing expertise. Proven track record in leading high-performance teams and attaining results; able to quantify results. Valid Visa Required.
