Resource Description

The SAP Integration Architect is responsible for designing, governing, and implementing end-to-end integration solutions across SAP and non-SAP ecosystems. This role goes beyond traditional SAP-centric integration approaches and focuses on hybrid architectures that leverage both SAP-native tools (e.g., SAP BTP Integration Suite, Event Mesh, API Management) and external platforms such as Kafka, Azure APIs, and cloud-native services. The architect will ensure scalable, resilient, and future-proof integration solutions, aligned with Clean Core principles, while enabling extensibility through custom events and modern integration paradigms. The role requires a strong architectural mindset, deep knowledge of integration patterns, and experience working with SAP S/4HANA both in On-Premise deployments and RISE with SAP environments.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an SAP Integration Architect in complex enterprise environments
  • Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA in both: o On-Premise deployments o RISE with SAP (S/4HANA Cloud, Private Edition)
  • Strong hands-on experience with SAP integration technologies: o SAP PI/PO o SAP CPI (Cloud Platform Integration) o SAP BTP Integration Suite (including API Management and Event Mesh)
  • Experience integrating SAP with non-SAP technologies and platforms: o Apache Kafka (event-driven architectures) o Azure Integration Services (APIs, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Functions) o Exposure to AWS and Google Cloud integration services
  • Solid knowledge of integration mechanisms and protocols: o REST, SOAP, OData o File-based integrations and EDI scenarios
  • Experience designing integration patterns: o Synchronous vs asynchronous o Event-driven architectures o Real-time and batch processing
  • Strong understanding of hybrid integration scenarios (SAP non-SAP)
  • Experience designing and consuming APIs and exposing services via API Gateways
  • Knowledge of Clean Core principles and SAP extensibility strategies (side-by-side extensions, event-driven extensions)
  • Experience defining and generating custom events to extend SAP functionality
  • Strong architecture and governance background, including integration standards and best practices

Responsibilities

  • Define and govern the enterprise integration architecture across SAP and non-SAP systems
  • Design scalable and reusable integration solutions using both SAP-native and external technologies
  • Ensure adherence to Clean Core principles by minimizing core modifications and promoting decoupled architectures in S/4HANA environments (On-Premise and RISE)
  • Lead the design of event-driven architectures using tools such as Kafka and SAP Event Mesh
  • Design and oversee API strategies, including exposure, consumption, and lifecycle governance
  • Enable hybrid integration scenarios across on-premise and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • Define integration patterns and standards for real-time, batch, API-based, and file-based integrations
  • Support EDI integration scenarios and legacy integration modernization initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (SAP functional, development, cloud, and data teams) to ensure alignment and consistency
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance during implementation phases
  • Evaluate and onboard new integration technologies aligned with enterprise architecture strategy

Additional Comments

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders
  • Experience working in global or large-scale enterprise organizations is highly desirable
  • Proven experience in S/4HANA transformation programs (including RISE migrations or hybrid landscapes) is highly valued
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and integration monitoring/observability tools is an advantage
  • Certification in SAP Integration Suite, SAP BTP, SAP S/4HANA, or cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) is preferred
  • Ability to balance governance with agility, ensuring innovation without compromising architectural standards
