The Senior Technician will lead in maintaining excellence in the technical quality of the charter fleet. Main duties will include ensuring delivery of the highest standards of yacht maintenance and reliability, providing prompt and courteous technical service to charter guests while on their yacht vacation, and technical repairs on yachts in preparation for charter.

This role will be an integral part of a small team working to deliver an exceptional yacht charter experience. Strong collaboration and flexibility are essential, the team will need to work seamlessly across various duties to ensure customer expectations are met. This may include but is not limited to cleaning yachts, customer service, and customer service/administration.

Charter activity week on week may vary, and therefore days off may vary to meet operational requirements.

What you will be doing

  • Ensure all yachts are maintained, operational, and ready for charter. This includes managing onboard systems, rigging, inventory, and hull structures in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain detailed digital logs of fleet maintenance, coordinating all routine servicing including A3, B6, and C12 processes.
  • Address major maintenance issues and any owners' concerns promptly.
  • Conduct onboard yacht briefings to customers, to show them the yacht systems and operational functionality and answer any questions prior to charter start.
  • Fully implement safety procedures, ensuring all safety equipment is well maintained, serviced, and up to date.
  • Manage and facilitate any chase call outs and maintain a detailed service log.
  • Conduct debriefs upon charter returns and resolve any issues affecting the yachts.
  • Manage and maintain stock levels to meet maintenance and turnaround requirements.
  • Identify and report technical and warranty issues, insurance claims, and ensure proper documentation is submitted.
  • Ensure relevant service advisories are completed.
  • Maintenance of the dinghies and dinghy outboards.
  • Follow incident reporting processes, and proactively report all safety incidents promptly.
  • Assist and support to oversee turnaround duties.
  • For any outsourced technical work, collaborate with the supplier, and ensure successful completion.
  • Help develop a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Build local relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide excellent customer service to customers and solve issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Support the base manager with any other reasonable duties as required.

What we are looking for

  • Marine technical degree or qualified through experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge including a good mechanical and electrical background.
  • Experience in the marine leisure industry.
  • Exceptional collaborator and effective team player.
  • A good problem solver with the ability to multitask to achieve deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations in a calm manner.
  • Leads by example, and acts as a role model to others.
  • Self-motivated, friendly, and professional approach.
  • Good English language skills.
  • Computer literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, and experience using a digital fleet maintenance system is preferable.
  • A flexible working approach, able to meet operational demands in terms of duties and working hours/days
