We are looking for a skilled individual with knowledge in Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) to help drive adoption within our team. Joining our AI Platform crew, you will have a crucial role in creating and implementing systems that utilize the potential of LLMs and generative AI. Your tasks will involve interpreting AI use cases, developing and integrating solutions, improving performance, and ensuring smooth deployment. If you are enthusiastic about AI, excel in a dynamic environment, and possess strong communication and stakeholder management skills, we would be thrilled to hear from you.

As our lead AI Engineer, you will collaborate with our team working on AI Assistants and Tools utilized across Oxford Economics. Your team is part of a group of customer-centric individuals dedicated to solving challenging problems on a large scale. Our data resources and software tools offer advanced economic forecasting technology to clients worldwide, covering diverse industrial and commercial scenarios. You will be in charge of maintaining your software, ensuring its quality, and safeguarding information security.

Main Responsibilities
  • AI Integration: Collaborate with the product team to integrate AI features into our platform including NLP, chatbot frameworks, and AI model APIs to enhance product value.
  • Software System Development and Maintenance: Design, develop, and maintain software systems essential for LLMs and Generative AI, directly contributing to the platform's core functionality.
  • Optimization and Efficiency: Enhance existing software for better performance, scalability, and reliability to ensure user satisfaction.
  • Security and Vulnerability Prevention: Implement robust security measures, follow our SDLC, adhere to ISO27001, and protect against SQL injection attacks to safeguard user data.
  • Communication: Implement APIs for seamless communication between our platform and external services like OpenAI.
  • Data Privacy and Compliance: Collaborate with our Head of Information Security to ensure data privacy, compliance with regulations, and inclusion of legal and ethical considerations.
  • User Authentication and Access Control: Implement secure authentication mechanisms and define access controls for proper data handling.
  • User Insights and Experience: Manage performance and usage data effectively to drive business strategy.
  • System Stability and Performance: Conduct load testing, monitor system performance, and address bottlenecks for system health.
  • Pricing Strategy and Collaboration: Collaborate with senior stakeholders to implement pricing models tied to usage for product monetization.

Skills and Experience: Required
  • At least 4 years of software development experience across the product lifecycle in a modern engineering environment (APIs, CI/CD, Cloud infrastructure, Git, Agile, Scrum)
  • Proficiency in programming languages: Python, Typescript and C#.

Commercial experience in the following:

  • Writing production features using LLMs and generative AI
  • Adding vector search to production applications with vector databases
  • Interacting with relational datasets using dynamic SQL
  • Cloud computing platforms – Azure, AWS, or GCP
  • Serverless architecture, azure function apps or AWS lambda.

Solid understanding of the following concepts:

  • How embedding models work for semantic search
  • Information retrieval systems and using traditional IR tools
  • Prompt engineering for production applications
  • Strong Problem-Solving Skills and proposing effective solutions
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Microservices architectures and distributed systems
  • Data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
  • Building and maintaining large-scale software systems
  • Modern software engineering practices (CI/CD, containerization)
  • Working independently and handling ambiguity
Skills and Experience: Desired
  • University degree preferably in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields, or relevant work experience
  • Interest in economics-related fields
  • Experience with AI model evaluation techniques
  • Understanding of generative AI state of the art models like RAG, LoRA, RLHF
  • UI/UX Skills: Ability to create user-friendly interfaces
  • Understanding of Dev Ops, CI/CD, and integrating systems into deployment pipeline with cloud development experience
  • Knowledge of modern software design and programming best practices
