Description
Main responsibilities of the position:
- Production support & process development.
- Steel and aluminum welding experience.
- Welder Qualification process management.
- Mentorship of weld technicians.
- Startup operations for new product lines.
- Assuring facility complies with AWP Welding Standards.
- Developing and maintaining manufacturing methods, standards, and practices.
- Defining and implementing weld cell layouts.
- Periodic audits of weld and fabrication processes, implementing corrective actions where gaps are identified.
- Support plant wide projects requiring engineering support.
- Support the division welding council, identifying and promoting new and emerging technologies that will result in lower operating costs and improved quality.
- Equipment maintenance, repair, and replacements strategy and process.
Main job-specific requirements / skills:
- B.S. Degree in Engineering. Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Technology. Other degrees will be considered with appropriate experience.
- 5 + years of experience in a Welding Manufacturing Environment.
- Must have the ability to develop standard work.
- Experience with the setup of welding equipment.
- Experience creating methods and processes required to manufacture.
- Experience in GMAW, GTAW & FCAW welding process.
- Experience in Carbon Steels & Aluminum Steel.
- Experience in use AWS and/or ASME Standards for welding applications.
- Experience developing PQRs, WPSs & WPQs.
- Root cause analysis for manufacturing and welding issues.
- Experience working with automatic and/or robotic welding processes.
- Knowledge in NDE and DE for qualifications and analysis.
- Experience implementing lean practices.
- Demonstrated team player and team leader qualities.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience providing manufacturing solutions in a production environment.
- Speak English - Business level.
Optional:
- Familiarity with industrial controls, PLC's, and factory automation.
- Get a welding certification (AWS, ISO, ASME, IIW).
- Proficiency in SolidWorks is desirable.
- Proficiency in Autocad or DraftSight is desirable.
- Experience using welding fixtures.
