You will develop and ensure the implementation of legal strategies to enable Mondelēz International to compete aggressively, and protect our people, assets and reputation while complying with legal requirements and standards of ethical conduct.
You will provide guidance and support to ensure managers are making reasonable and informed decisions regarding legal risks; manage the legal strategy with outside counsel, including spending without compromising financial and reputational risk; and provide in-house and external legal expertise to address the increasingly complex legal environment by partnering with business units, regions and global stakeholders to identify and advise on applicable laws and regulatory changes for a given country and/or across multiple countries.

Mondelēz International is seeking a Counsel, Commercial ("Counsel"). Based in Monterrey, MX, the Counsel will report to the SVP & Chief Counsel, North America.
This role will provide legal counsel, guidance and support on a wide range of legal matters e.g, operations, supply chain, procurement, etc., which arise from the day-to-day operations of our facilities in Monterrey and Salinas, MX ("Mexico Hub").
The Counsel will provide best-in-class legal services efficiently, timely and in a cost-effective manner by anticipating, addressing and creatively resolving legal issues to protect the best interests of our company.
The Counsel must bring solid business acumen, orientation, and focus on problem-solving, while upholding strong ethics and integrity.Key Responsibilities
- Act as legal counsel for our Mexico Hub on a wide range of legal matters with a specific focus on contract negotiation, labor & employment and health, safety and environmental law.
- Contribute to achieving both corporate and business unit strategic goals as a proactive member of the North America Legal Team and as a functional partner with other business and specialist counsel.
- Partner with the SVP & Chief Counsel, North America to proactively set and execute legal strategies anticipating and addressing changes in laws, regulations and business environment to the advantage and benefit of our Mexico Hub.
- Develop and provide best practices training to internal stakeholders.
- Work with the Legal Operations Lead to select and retain competent, costeffective outside counsel and experts. Develop strong working relationships with outside counsel, frame their performance goals, guide their work efforts, and monitor their performance against budget.
Required Experience
- JD from an accredited law school or equivalent international legal education.
- Must be eligible to practice law in Mexico.
- 35 years of legal experience at a top tier law firm and/or inhouse experience. CPG experience preferred.
- Proactive businesssavvy partner with excellent management skills and judgment with a capacity to make decisions and give advice, demonstrating an understanding of overall business objectives and the risks/rewards of each situation.
- Strong research and writing skills, and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a nonlegal audience.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty; the ability to adapt nimbly and lead others through complex situations.
- Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- High degree of initiative, self‐direction, and ability to work independently and within a team.
