Job Description Summary:
Braintree lets you move money from one place to another safely and securely.

Every time you pay for an Uber ride, book a stay through Airbnb, or pay with PayPal when you check out online, you're probably using our product.

Job Description:

Your way to impact

  • Be a valued member of an autonomous, crossfunctional agile team
  • Build performance sensitive systems that serve tens of millions of requests each day
  • Be an active voice in architectural decisions for PayPal's core payments system

Your day to day

  • Writing highly scalable and distributed Ruby on Rails services.
  • Driving technical projects and taking pride in building systems that are used by millions of users every day.
  • Developing midtier services in a serviceoriented architecture (SOA)
  • Working in an Agile environment
  • Calling Linux and Vim your best buddies

What you need to bring

  • 5+ years of experience developing software
  • Strong Ruby or strong programming abilities in Java and other languages like Python, C++
  • Strong understanding of algorithmic techniques, design patterns and best practices
  • Curiosity about how things work and the behavior of finding the answers. Flexible and adapting to changing circumstances, tenacious
  • Knowledge/experience with Unix. Knowledge/experience with relational databases, NoSQL databases
  • Knowledge/experience with GitHub. Knowledge/experience with Service Oriented Architectures
  • Great communication skills
  • You are passionate about PayPal and its mission to "build the Web's most convenient, secure, costeffective payment solution"
