How will you make an impact in this role?


International Insurance Compliance provides strategic support to the AXP insurance business outside the United States in order to drive continuous product innovation for the business while building an effective framework for compliance with applicable laws and regulations for insurance products, services and channels.

This position will play a critical role within the Line of Business Compliance (LOBCO) team supporting ICS - International Insurance Services insurance initiatives in the Mexico, Argentina and Canada (LACC) market.


The role holder will report to the Vice President, International Insurance Compliance based in the UK and will also involve regular contact with other members of the team who support EMEA and APAC.

This is a highly visible and strategic position with significant and regular interaction with senior leaders across the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide solutionoriented insurance compliance support for Fee (Premium) and NAC product benefits to assist business colleagues in reaching their goals while meeting compliance requirements,
  • Support initiatives through New Product Approval (NPA) enterprisewide processes (including AEMP 54 and IISTAR) to develop a robust and effective control environment,
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with business partners and internal stakeholders (e.g. other Global Risk and Compliance colleagues, General Counsel's Organization, Operational Excellence, Independent Compliance Testing, Privacy, Internal Audit Group),
  • Manage an effective Compliance program, including overseeing Compliance Risk Assessment (CRA), Regulatory Change Management (RCM) and issue management processes including risk (ORE) oversight,
  • Assist internal stakeholders with specific insurance regulatory issues,
  • Drive implementation of policy and regulatory requirements related to relevant insurance distribution.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Compliance or Risk expertise is required (preferably with a specific understanding of insurance and relevant regulatory considerations),
  • Insurance experience in either an insurer or intermediary would be advantageous,
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in the development and selection of compliant solutions,
  • Strong project management skills, ability to manage multiple projects and support multiple priorities simultaneously,
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently, work well under pressure, meet deadlines and adapt easily to frequent change,
  • Strong leadership, analytical and organizational skills,
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to persuade and influence,
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish (Latin American) is required.
