GENERAL SUMMARY
The position assures that North American Stamping Group companies comply with applicable
federal, provincial, and state environmental, health, and safety (EHS) laws, regulations, and
standards by embracing current standards and embracing new technologies. Responsible for
leading activities to reduce injuries, injury costs, control risks, as well as to establish uniformity
in the development and administration of all applicable programs and policies at all NASG
Divisions. Assists with planning, establishing, implementing, and maintaining a variety of
occupational environmental, health, and programs to assure the highest possible degree of
safety for associates.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
A. Develops and establishes corporate industrial EHS policies, programs, and procedures in
accordance with applicable Federal, Provincial, and State Laws.
B. Develops, conducts, and oversees industrial EHS training activities including new hire
orientation.

  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve training for occupational environmental,
health, and safety.

  • Direct or assist in the development of specialized education and training materials.
  • Conduct specialized safety and environmental training programs to communicate hazard
control information.
C. Oversees environmental programs including ISO 14001 activities at assigned NASG
Divisions.

  • Develop, implement, and direct environmental compliance programs related to
hazardous wastes, air permitting, water pollution control, and community right-to-know
programs.

  • Oversee and manage NASG's ISO 14001 system including writing procedures, work
instructions, and implementation of the system throughout assigned NASG divisions.

  • Compile and retain records for all NASG divisions in relation to chemical and process
activities including, but not limited to, air, water, and chemical emissions and usage.

  • Assists, conducts, and coordinates internal and/or external audits for environmental
compliance and ISO 14001.

  • Assist with environmental waste directives to reduce items such as electricity, waste
generation, and other items deemed to be feasible to NASG.
D. Act as a technical and cultural change agent for environmental, health, and safety initiatives.
E. Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace.

  • Survey to identify and evaluate occupational environmental, health, and safety
conditions.

  • Develop, coordinate and implement controls for hazards identified in hazard analysis.
  • Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies, and
procedures with recommended changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate
workplace accidents.

  • Assist in the preparation of comprehensive recommendations for corrective actions to
eliminate or minimize potential or existing hazards.

  • Conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work
practices.

  • Maintains open hazard reports for corrective action and hazard abatement activities.
  • Provide advice and counsel concerning all federal, provincial, state, county, and city
compliance regulations.
F. Provides industrial safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental support services for
assigned NASG Divisions.

  • Conduct and coordinate in facility Safety Teams (i.e. Safety Task Force, JHSC) and
meetings.

  • Leads and encourages EHS associate involvement activities to improve working
conditions and cost control.

  • Assist facilities in compiling, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting accident, loss, and
exposure statistical data.

  • Investigates accidents and incidents at several NASG Divisions.
  • Assist all facilities in the review of injury and property damage reports and compliance of
worker's compensation programs.

  • Incorporates essential occupational environmental, health, and safety requirements in all
purchasing and control actions.
G. Makes recommendations for the purchase of safety equipment and supplies including
personal protective equipment.
H. Maintain Safety Tracker program with up to date incident reports, key measurements and
countermeasures. Track, evaluate, improve and ensure accuracy of metrics on EHS
activities including reporting out in Management Review and Monthly Analytics KPI's for
responsible locations.
I. Implement and lead the Safety Task Force for assigned locations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering or related field preferred, or equivalent
combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Certified Safety Professional certification preferred.
  • Auditor training through ISO 14001 preferred.

Experience:

  • Greater than five (5) years of functional experience as an environmental, health, and safety
professional in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive stamping.

  • Multi-site Leadership experience with the development and implementation of Environmental,
Health, and Safety programs preferred.

Personal/Technical Skills:

  • General understanding and working knowledge of manufacturing, assembly, and welding
equipment and tooling including design, automation, robotics, or manufacturing processes
(and all secondary related processes) relating to automotive stamping.

  • Ability to develop, implement, and coordinate comprehensive health, safety, and
environmental programs.

  • Demonstrate a "hands on" approach.
  • Possess strong leadership skills and ability.
  • Possess excellent problem solving and people skills.
  • Ability to compile effective and concise visual reports.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
  • Ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively facilitate problem solving and resolution.

  • Ability to maintain on call flexibility to control abnormal conditions.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to deliver hands-on environmental, health, and safety
training.

  • Ability to adapt available skills and equipment to respond to unforeseen demands and/or
problems.

  • Strong organization, time management, and planning skills and ability to manage multiple
tasks with tight deadlines.

  • Will possess the organizational skills necessary to maintain company records in compliance
with ISO 14001 procedures.

  • Ability to teach managers, group leaders, team leaders, and associates in basic
environmental, health, and safety requirements and facilitate new hire EHS orientation.

Language Skills:

  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language (English) used in
the workplace.

Computer/Software:

  • Solid working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based
applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, Internet, etc.).

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS

Open Office Environment

Plant:
Various types of manufacturing environments.

  • Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level.
  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, Kevlar
sleeves, hearing protection, etc. may be required in designated engineering, manufacturing,
or industrial areas. Personal attire standards may apply.

  • Involves moderate or occasional presence of some slightly disagreeable conditions, i.e.,
cold, dust, heat, odor, etc.

Travel:
Must be willing to travel up to 20% to visit other manufacturing sites.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Although the primary job functions involve the ability to sit and work on a computer and in an
office situation for extensive periods of time, the associate must be capable of walking, sitting,
and standing for extended periods of time.
