Buyer New Products
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Sourcing Manager, this position plays a key role in executing our strategies with responsibility for New Products Development in GENIE México.
This will do the base work such as sending out material development and tooling RFQ's related to new program launches and engineering changes and preparing quote comparisons for Commodity Management.
The main tasks are to ensure the program needs from purchasing side, in particular, sourcing the best material development and tooling kick off serial supplier for the materials needed in terms of quality/timing/costs while supporting the program needs with sample materials or pre-serial orders.
Responsibilities:
- Support New Product Development Launch teams through RFQ development, analysis and negotiation of supplier quote responses, Supplier Statement of Work.
- Provide BOM material cost model for new products to the facility.
- Support the project leadership with cost models to develop make/buy scenarios.
- Ensure alignment of the global and local category management strategies.
- Provide escalation of the commercial needs of the project to the Strategic Souring team.
- Develop sourcing recommendations with supporting rationale and documentation
- Participate as an extended member of the Purchasing Commodity Team in regard to commodity strategy, business strategy, supplier consolidation, and cost savings
- Support manufacturing operations and quality department with supplier issue resolution
- Administrate Purchase Orders and Vendor Master information in the ERP system
- Comply with purchasing policies/procedures, as well as legal/ethical obligations
- Navigate legal issues involving Terms and Conditions, and identify issues that require professional legal assistance
Basic Qualifications- Skilled in use of MS Office Suite, specifically in Excel.- Strong problem-solving skills- Demonstrated knowledge of Logistics, Scheduling, Material Handling, Inventory Control and Lean Manufacturing- Strong track record of working in diverse, cross-functional teams- Experience in New Product Development (NPD).
Preferred Qualifications- 4-year degree with a Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Business, or materials educational background- 5+ years purchasing experience with prior experience working on New Product Development teams.
CPM or CPSM is desirable- Ability to analyze complex data, identify and executes savings opportunities, implement sourcing strategies, and quickly execute tasks to realize benefits- Ability to multi-task multiple categories & projects.
Ability to coordinate strategies/activities across multiple business functions- Financial & quantitative analysis experience a plus. Problem solving skills essential- Verbal and written skills - ability to communicate to all levels of management required Organized and capable of dealing with high volume of interactions with a broad cross-section of the company- Able to effectively prioritize multiple priorities
