Team/Role Overview

  • The role will report into the head of the LATAM HR Legal team and will form part of Citi's legal team in Mexico.
  • The role will provide contentious and noncontentious employment advice within Mexico to a wide stakeholder base including the business, compliance, legal, HR, ER and management.
  • The role will also day to day supervise and mentor a less experienced employment lawyer also based in Mexico.

Responsibilities
The role will involve a number of different responsibilities,

  • There will be daytoday responsibility for managing your own caseload of complex and significant matters.
  • Managing employment litigation, liaising with senior internal clients and external lawyers through the litigation process.
  • Providing general employment advisory support to HR, ER, compliance, legal, management and the business;
  • Assisting with performance management, employee disputes, disciplinaries and grievances;
  • Assisting with data privacy issues
  • Advising on contract, compensation and benefit issues, liaising with recruitment, HR, ER, compensation and benefits;
  • Advising on contingent workers, status, disputes etc;
  • Providing employment advice and coordinating with external counsel and internal stakeholders during investigations;
  • Managing external employment law firms in Mexico
  • Supervising and training a more junior employee
  • Primary responsibility for escalating and reporting on significant employment matters arising in Mexico to the HR Legal LATAM head and the relevant country counsel.
  • Liaising with senior management in Mexico on employment law matters

Qualifications


This challenging role will broaden and deepen experience and knowledge of banking and financial services matters and as part of the Global HR Legal team provides the opportunity for exposure to a global organisation and growth.


  • Some understanding of banking/financial institutions or in house experience would be helpful.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, & SharePoint for compiling written reports and spreadsheets on an investigation

Required Background:

  • Degree or equivalent
  • 10 years plus experience
  • Bar license in good standing to practice law
