Job Summary

Responsible for leading the construction and field services function with US&LAM.

The position is accountable for successfully managing construction and field services functions and activities to meet performance objectives in customer deliveries, cost, productivity, quality, HSE, regulatory compliance and product stewardship. Also, included in the responsibilities are, operational budgeting and forecasting, driving continuous improvements throughout the company, world-class safety performance and achieving results through the development of employees.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Achieve the annual safety and health performance targets while ensuring compliance with all regulatory (company, customer, governmental, environmental, etc.) requirements.
  • Responsible for continued development and measurement of the maintenance and construction business plan. Work within budgets.
  • Direct involvement with the staffing and hiring of key assets necessary to create an industry leading maintenance and construction team.
  • Oversee and direct development of Construction, Maintenance and Field Services team as per Thermon's strategy.
  • Responsible for obtaining and maintaining appropriate contractor licenses.
  • Oversee and direct development of Policies, Procedures.
  • Review projects in depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs.
  • Ensure Thermon meets contractual conditions of performance.
  • Ensure internal and external reports pertaining to project or contract status is maintained.
  • Inspect and review projects and/or contracts to monitor compliance to Inspection Test Plan and quality procedures.
  • Develop in conjunction with sales/engineering an approach to enter into the new markets.
  • Analyze, manage and mitigate risk.
  • Drive project execution to safely meet or exceed customer expectations while driving profitability and margin growth for the corporation.
    • Forecast manpower request
    • Coordinate project supervision
    • Coordination between Operations, Site Managers, Project Managers and Engineering
    • Monitor and responsible for implementing project controls.
  • Responsible for the Development and manage annual construction operating budget.
  • Oversees manpower training (Supervisor training, Safety, Technical training, THT reporting requirements).
  • Conduct WIP reports monthly.
  • Responsible for timesheet recording.
  • Accountable for timely and accurate billing.
  • Monthly project revenue and margin reporting.
  • Comply with company requirements concerning:
    • Project completion
    • Project cost
    • Project Profitability
    • Change orders
    • Customer satisfaction
  • Reviews/Participate in construction project estimating.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Possess superior business acumen with an undergraduate degree in related field or equivalent experience. MBA, MS or similar degree would also be a plus.
  • Strong cross-cultural communicator and relationship builder at all levels of internal and client organization(s) with the ability to work effectively across functions.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial construction management
  • Well-developed business acumen and be able to balance a strategic focus with the ability to dig into the details administratively and drive day-to-day performance.
  • Excellent people leader skills capable of inspiring and developing a best in class organization where results, attitude and behaviors are modeled at all levels.
  • Proven experience in the restructuring or repositioning of the construction team; have trained, developed and retained a strong construction team and have hired effectively from outside the company when needed.
  • Strong technical ability. Ability to understand and communicate technology and specifications to customers.
  • Ability to partner effectively with a senior leadership team and functional leaders in a matrixed environment.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
  • Must be able to travel -/+ 20%, mostly within the US.
