Position Summary As the Director of Global Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), you will champion our commitment to an injury-free and environmentally responsible workplace.
Reporting directly to the EVP and General Counsel, this position offers the opportunity to shape and lead our EHS strategy across all operations worldwide, with a significant focus on ensuring safety and compliance across our extensive global footprint, including major operations in the US, Canada, Europe, and Mexico.
You will play a pivotal role in embedding sustainable safety practices into our corporate ethos, influencing policy and culture at every level.
Key Responsibilities Develop and execute a global EHS management strategy that integrates seamlessly with our operational processes and business goals, ensuring alignment across all regions including the US, Canada, Europe, and Mexico.
Lead a dynamic team of EHS professionals across multiple regions, fostering a culture of safety and environmental accountability.Drive compliance with all applicable local, national, and international environmental and safety regulations.
Engage with senior stakeholders to report on EHS performance metrics, aligning EHS objectives with business strategies to optimize outcomes.
Spearhead initiatives to reduce workplace hazards and environmental impact, leveraging innovative technologies and best practices.
Establish robust emergency response strategies and crisis management protocols to safeguard employees and operations worldwide.
Cultivate strategic partnerships with governmental and non-governmental organizations to enhance our environmental leadership and compliance.
Analyze and interpret EHS data to identify trends and areas for improvement, ensuring that our practices not only comply with regulations but also set industry standards.
Coordinate with HR and operational leaders to develop and deliver comprehensive EHS training programs for all levels of staff, especially those in high-risk roles or regions.
Implement and oversee a continuous improvement program that encourages feedback from employees at all levels, leading to enhancements in safety protocols and environmental practices.
Advocate for and manage investments in EHS technology and infrastructure that drive efficiencies and improve safety outcomes across all locations.
Work closely with the corporate sustainability team to integrate EHS objectives with broader environmental and social governance (ESG) goals, enhancing our corporate reputation and stakeholder confidenceMinimum Qualifications A minimum of 10 years in a leadership role within environmental health and safety, preferably in a global context.
Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.Proven track record of developing and implementing EHS strategies that have significantly improved outcomes in large, complex manufacturing organizations.
Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team towards exceeding their strategic objectives.
Deep knowledge of global EHS regulations, compliance management, and best practices in sustainable operations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging and influencing all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
Domestic and international travel are required
