Role purpose Coordinate the activities of the materials laboratory staff regarding the analysis service of heat treatment of components, training and technical support of non-destructive testing equipment, chemical analysis, hardness and metallographic profiles as required, technical support in heat treatment and welding processes.

Manage and supervise te technical and technological resources of the dimensional laboratory in order to obtain precise and accurate information of the quality of the components.

Promoting a culture of discipline to the management systems for quality assurance based on ISO methodologies and standards, as well as managing laboratory resources to meet internal, quality and customer requirements.

Key responsibilities Coordinate and lead the resources of the Laboratories: Dimensional, Metallurgy, Calibrators, Salt Fog and Particle Analysis.

Oriented to the Quality Management System IATF AND ISO-17025Ensure the inspection, instrument programming, testing or calibration required according to defined procedures.

Advise the team in decision making in case of quality problems through the correct use of failure analysis techniques and methods.

Monthly and annual budget management to support the operation of the Plant and meet the financial target.
Coordinate and advise Plant Dimensional Metallurgy laboratory activities and provide measurement services.

Perform product audits to ensure compliance with product specifications at all stages of manufacturing (especially Heat Treatment and Welding); and support the team with preventive and/or corrective actions as required.

Support to comply with CQI-9, CQI-15 and IATF In addition, lead/support Capex projects: planning through execution.
Responsible for the development, maintenance and improvement of measurement systems and procedures to ensure valid results.

Follow up the calibration program and statistical studies to equipment that make up the measurement system of the materials and Dimensional laboratory.

Follow up on the training of the operating personnel for the use and calibration of the measuring and testing equipment put into operation to ensure the quality of the measurements.

Manage the budget/Capex assigned to the dimensional and materials laboratory.

Coordinate the performance of measurement equipment studies:
R&R, Linearity, Accuracy, Attributes, with production personnel. Provide support in analysis and decision making to the production team, Quality floor and Manufacturing.

Define procedures for laboratory activity (measurement, instrument programming, testing, calibration, etc.) and ensure compliance with external measurement standards and related GKN specific requirements.

Generate internal and external reports for product/process validation.
Identify and support resolution of material and/or manufacturing process related issues. Provide technical expertise and knowledge during design, pre-production, production and failure analysis.
Conducting training of business unit personnel in measurement methods.

Ensuring that the production team, Quality floor and Manufacturing do the correct measurement procedure and proper use of Instruments, equipment and Gauges.

Likewise to follow up the production optical measurement capsules with preventive maintenance, correct use and training, maintain the measurement and support programs and decision making.

Experience and Essential Qualifications Personnel and resouce management. Knowledge of Metallurgy and Machining processes.
Metallurgy Engineer / Industrial Engineer and/or Mechanical Engineer.
Experience in mid/ large organizationsTechnical Competences Ability to manage personnel and resources.

Interpretation of mechanical designs, geometric tolerances, knowledge of standards IATF-16949, MSA, CQI-9, CQI-15, ASTM, AWS, VDA19, ISO-16232, ISO-17025, ISO-9011.Knowledge of the processes of Machining, Induction Hardening, Carburizing and Hardening, Welding especially MIAB, Friction Stir Welding and Projection Welding.

Develop advanced technology in the Laboratories and Floor Stand Gauges.
Ability to plan and develop annual and monthly budgets. Basic Finance and 6 Sigma knowledge.
Knowledge of measurement systems, destructive and non-destructive testing. Dimensional Laboratories and Metallurgy Laboratories. Proficiency in non-destructive testing laboratory equipment and instruments and MSA studies.
Problem Solving Skills (QRQC). Use analysis and problem solving techniques.

Knowledge in Core Tools:
APQP, PMEA, Control Plan and Flow Diagram.
Ability to identify and develop continuous improvement projects (Kaizen or Lean Methodology). Knowledge and application of Lean Manufacturing (Kaizen, VSM, Standard Work, etc.).
