As a Wiring Harness Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and managing the lifecycle of vehicle wiring harnesses from inception to implementation. This role requires a deep understanding of automotive electrical systems, an ability to manage complex projects, and active participation in all phases of product development and standardization.
The responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the lifecycle of automotive parts from development to final implementation, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and deliverables.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency between parts/drawings and models, adhering to the "Model is Master" philosophy
- Own and lead change management documentation processes.
- Validate necessity of changes in vehicle design and oversee first piece and production sign-off activities
- Own and manage engineering issue processes including root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Actively participate in launch activities at assembly plants and support vehicle/component DFMEA, DVP, FO, and Design Rule activities.
- Review and validate supplier's DFMEA and DVPR
- Engage in packaging and design review meetings
- Update and maintain system databases and support wiring harness complexity documentation
- Contribute to the production of owner's manual images and support standardization across components and documents
- Develop and architect the overall vehicle harness structure, ensuring it meets all technical and regulatory standards
- Investigate and implement simplification and innovation in harness design, performing benchmarking as necessary
- Propose adjustments to electrical architectures to optimize cost and feasibility
