¿Qué estamos buscando?


Leading and developing the Mexico legal team by enabling the team to focus on critical matters for the Mexico business, while efficiently and effectively supporting routine business matters.


Coordinating and supervising a wide variety of commercial activities involving all aspects of Xepelin operations in Mexico, which include: customer and vendor-facing agreements; supporting business development initiatives, lending, negotiation and integration activities.


Supporting strong relationships with Mexican regulators, including the Central Bank of Mexico (BANXICO), the National Banking and Securities Commission of Mexico (CNBV), and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CONDUSEF).

Advising the business on marketing, product and general legal risks, in particular in association with business development in market.

Maintaining corporate governance and secretarial records for Xepelin Mexico entities.


Monitoring and advising on new and emerging legal and regulatory developments impacting Mexico operations, including identifying trends and potential impacts on business activities.

Partnering with Compliance and Risk Management on AML/CTF or other compliance matters.

Providing legal advice in support of existing operations and business expansion opportunities.



¿Qué te hará tener éxito?
:

  • Deep, demonstrable financial services regulatory and contract negotiation skills and expertise, with an emphasis on payments laws, including the Mexican Fintech Law and Regulated Entities.
  • Experience with oversight by and engagement with the CNBV, CONDUSEF, BANXICO and other regulators in Latin America.
  • Familiarity with, and strong interest in, financial services technology, mobile and alternative payments, as well as emerging technology.
  • General legal background and experience with common issues related to employment, commercial, corporate, currency controls, foreign exchange, litigation and intellectual property. Experience with online businesses will also be advantageous.
  • Ability to thrive in a fastpaced environment and to tolerate change and ambiguity.
  • Global thinker and demonstrated collaborator, who displays riskbased and pragmatic legal and business judgment in providing practical advice to clients on privacy and data protection issues.
  • Ability to translate legal advice into actionable policies, processes and programs that enable business objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively coach and mentor others and work with a sense of humor and resiliency, especially under tight deadlines and while managing multiple priorities.

Lo que nos llamará mucho la atención:

  • 3 or more years of experience practicing in-house (or in an equivalent setting) and/or at a reputable law firm.
  • 3 or more years of experience in regulated entities like sofipo or bank prerred.
  • Juris Doctorate or equivalent degree. Admitted to practice law in Mexico.
  • Exceptional writing skills, with attention to detail and ability to generate creative, original drafting and documents.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to communicate and help nonexperts understand applicable regulations and requirements.
  • Experience advising clients in the financial services, mobile payments, internet and technology industries preferred.
