Assistant Vice President Credit Risk
Role purpose:
Special Credit Unit (SCU) in North America operates under the 'Professional Services' model, managing high-risk secured credits for small businesses, middle market, large corporates, and global banking customers in the US.
SCU officers oversee a portfolio of criticized, classified, or exit loan relationships, including Commercial Real Estate, derivative products, and settlement limits. They work closely with On-shore Senior SCU Managers to reduce non-performing assets and maximize recovery through collection, restructure, and return to the line.
Main activities:
- Develop data processes and create departmental reports for the Special Credit Unit.
- Produce reports on regulatory matters like IFRS 9.
- Assist in internal/external audit engagements.
- Support in the administration of controls like SOX and non-SOX.
- Assist in various projects including training, system changes, and risk policy alignment.
- Coordinate with SCU Relationship Managers to ensure data accuracy and recommend workout strategies for high-risk credits.
- Conduct credit analysis, risk assessment, and impairment analysis in compliance with IFRS 9 guidelines.
Requirements:
- Graduate degree in accounting/business/finance/economics or related field.
- 5+ years of post-qualification experience in handling commercial credits.
- Strong understanding of credit products, financial analysis, and loan documentation.
- Knowledge of International Trade Financing and treasury/derivative products.
- Proficiency in analyzing complex financial statements and corporate documents.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Experience with data analysis tools like Python, R, or SAS.
