The individual often takes on leadership responsibilities within the team, providing guidance and training to new team members. The performance of the team directly correlates with the individual's input. They are tasked with measuring, monitoring, and analyzing the organization's market risk exposure on a continual basis, considering various financial products. Market risk involves potential losses stemming from market fluctuations such as interest rate changes, stock prices, credit spreads, and foreign exchange rate shifts.
Individuals in this role oversee trading limits and approve transactions above set thresholds. They collaborate with traders or trading management to recommend risk mitigation strategies. Additionally, they are responsible for evaluating and managing the organization's risk exposure by comprehending the risks and benefits associated with Citi's products, structuring solutions to mitigate potential risks.
Responsibilities:
- Work alongside the trading desk to ensure all relevant market risk factors are accurately identified and documented in official risk systems
- Collect and consolidate data from multiple industry-specific sources
- Facilitate data analysis and generate insightful reports
- Collaborate with senior risk managers in market-specific compliance initiatives
- Establish and maintain a robust autonomous market risk limits framework with appropriate limits and triggers
- Monitor business adherence to the firm's market risk-related policies
- Assist in product-specific risk reporting and limit monitoring
- Oversee risk exposure measurement and limit monitoring processes to ensure accurate reporting
- Participate in developing business-level stress testing that considers risk concentrations by issuer, risk rating, sector/industry, and geography; review results and determine necessary actions
- Engage in the continuous enhancement, implementation, and upgrading of risk systems
- Work on well-defined mid to long-term projects under the mentorship of senior professionals, involving technical skills and strategic planning, enhancing analytical capabilities and critical thinking
- Evaluate risks appropriately when making business decisions, with a focus on upholding the firm's reputation and protecting Citigroup, its clients, and assets by ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, ethical judgment, and proactive management of control issues
Qualifications:
- 5-8 years of relevant experience
- Degree in a quantitative or financial discipline
- Knowledge of financial instruments and risk metrics
- Proven quantitative skills, including risk estimation and modeling mathematics
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
- Self-motivated, flexible, innovative, and adaptable
- Ability to collaborate across all organizational levels
- Work effectively with regional and global partners in different functional units; adept at navigating a complex organizational structure
- Strong project management and organizational skills, capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel/VBA, Word, PowerPoint) and SQL
- Experience in data analysis
Education:
- Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience
