World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world's leading conservation organizations, seeks a Private Funds Mobilization Specialist (LAC)

Job Location

LAC Region ( Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru , Bolivia, Paraguay, Chile)

Major Function

The purpose of the Private Funds Mobilization Specialist is to work with countries in identifying systematizing and mobilize funding and resource opportunities to support our work regionally or locally, through Corporate Engagements, Individual Donors and Membership, and Foundations.

The Private Funds Mobilization Specialist will play a pivotal role in articulating fundraising efforts for LAC Country Offices across various channels and coordinating fundraising experts for private funding, corporate engagement, foundations, memberships, and other strategic Fundraising initiatives. It will also coordinate fundraising efforts with the Public Sector Engagement staff in LAC.

This position will strategically use the localization trend coming from international donors and use it as an opportunity to strengthen the role of country offices as conduits of such support and as catalyzers of local empowerment of local communities and indigenous peoples to design projects and strategy and execute funding around the 30 by 30 under the global biodiversity framework.

This is a highly collaborative and strategically focused role, working across LAC offices and WWF network.

Key Responsibilities
  • The Private Funds Mobilization Specialist together with Country offices, LAC Regional Leadership and COU Conservation Strategy and Impact Director, will identify and work on transformational initiatives and/or transboundary work to leverage and mobilize funding for collective country work towards advancing the 2030 agenda.
  • On the corporate side, provide strategic support with the aim of growing the scale and value of corporate engagements, transformation and funding in the LAC region, unlocking operational roadblocks, and progressing the scale and impact of partnerships cross high impact/transformation of the sector.
  • For foundations, work with countries to identify and leverage the support and funding coming from foundations that work in the region in order to unlock resources to support our conservation work.
  • Through sharing and learning, support and leverage the work of WWF Chile, WWF Peru, and WWF Mexico whose experiences with individuals and foundations will be replicated with other countries in LAC.
  • Provide capacity-building support for fundraising activities, ensure consistency tools and systems and advise on Resource Mobilization trends and new opportunities across Country Offices.
  • Coordinate regular meetings of the Fundraising Hub comprised of different areas of expertise in development.
  • Coordinate with WWF US teams (Development, PSE) and WWF INT resource mobilisation team to enhance support from the Global secretariats and National Offices in support of country offices in LAC, and to co-deliver corporate engagement building conferences, workshops, skill sharing sessions across the region.
  • Identify training and capacity building needed across the region to build understanding of Private fundraising in the region.
  • Coordinate regional fundraising, conservation, and campaigns, with the offices' fundraising and corporate teams.
  • Develop monitoring and reporting approaches articulating regional corporate
    engagement progress to relevant governance groups in LAC providing financial reporting on fundraising metrics and financial contributions as well as provide regular updates to leadership on fundraising progress.
  • Provide advice in identifying areas where cost recovery can be enhanced to increase country funding.
  • Participate and help identify LAC's country representation in WWF- International's resource mobilisation team and will lead the fundraisers group and fundraising practitioners in LAC.
  • Support the development of business plans for transformational initiatives from the fundraising area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
  • A bachelor's degree in business, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in similar roles preferably in LAC and a nonprofit or similar setting.
  • Able to work with staff across levels and build relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong working knowledge of external corporate engagement market trends that impact WWF
  • Proven experience in proposal development (private funding (corporate, individuals and foundations)
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with business plan development and strategic planning.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish (written and spoken it is a must).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and communication software.
