The Data Engineer is responsible for development work and technical support related to data transformation and ETL tasks to support a global data warehouse. They can effectively communicate outcomes with internal stakeholders and possess the independence to work autonomously or collaboratively with various customers and technical professionals.

• Developing new ETL/data transformation tasks utilizing PySpark and IBM DataStage in AWS.
• Enhancing and supporting existing ETL/data transformation jobs.
• Ability to elucidate technical solutions and resolutions to internal stakeholders and convey feedback to the ETL team.
• Conducting technical code assessments for colleagues transitioning code to production.
• Performing and reviewing integration tests before migrations to production.
• Providing a high level of technical support and conducting root cause analyses for issues within the functional domain.
• Proficient in documenting technical specifications based on business communications.

• 5+ years of experience in ETL processes.
• Proficiency in core Python programming for data transformation.
• Intermediate-level proficiency in PySpark. Capable of comprehending and debug existing code, as well as creating basic PySpark code from scratch.
• Thorough understanding of SQL fundamentals, including subqueries, adept at query optimization for performance enhancement.
• Valuable experience with IBM DataStage.
• Adept at crafting SQL code suitable for diverse business needs—extracting, transforming, and loading data.
• Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting ETL tasks and resolving production issues such as performance optimization, handling rejects, and ad-hoc reloads.
• Skilled in devising optimization strategies for ETL procedures.
• Fundamental AWS technical support skills, proficiency in job monitoring through Control-M.
• Proficiency in creating clear and concise documentation and communications.
• Proficient in documenting technical specifications from business interactions.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple responsibilities concurrently.
• Effective in cross-functional and global environments, capable of managing various tasks with strong communication skills.
• A motivated self-starter, excelling both independently and in collaborative projects.
• Experienced in analyzing business requirements, defining data element mapping, and providing technical specifications.
• Understanding of data dependencies and proficient in scheduling jobs in Control-M.
• Proficient in operating at the command line in UNIX environments, with a basic understanding of bash and korn shell scripting.

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor of Science in computer science or equivalent
• 5+ years of ETL and SQL experience
• 3+ years of python and PySpark experience
• 3+ years of AWS and UNIX experience
• 2+ years of IBM DataStage experience is highly desired
• Preferred certifications:
• AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
• Certified DataStage Professional
• Python and PySpark certifications
