Position Summary

The Managing Director is responsible for all activities related to conceptualizing and implementing the Hispanic America commercial as well as deploying regional strategy. Acts as an internal consultant to Senior Management related to the administration of the Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc. (MEAU) branches in Mexico. This role is a major contributor to MEAU's overall growth and profitability in Hispanic America.

Position Duties And Responsibilities

Activity & Essential Function Identification

The essential functions of this role include but are not limited to: overseeing the management team in Mexico, finding ways to improve the performance of the Mexico Branch, understanding of MEAUs compliance protocol, overseeing daily business operations, developing and implementing growth strategies, training and development of Mexico Management and staff, analyzing accounting and financial data, creating and managing budgets, improving revenue, and evaluating performance and productivity.

Sales Activity Identification

  • Work with Managers to identify, prospect, cultivate and grow base of premier clients.
  • Exceed defined sales goals through strategic account planning, networking, and use of company resources.
  • Partner with senior MEAUs executives to define the optimal performance measurements and management priorities and identify opportunities for new sales.
  • Maximize MEAUs revenue and profitability potential by up-selling new revenue, raising awareness of MEAUs broader portfolio of solutions and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in trade shows, kick-off meetings, major milestone meetings and other opportunistic events where senior decisions makers are present.
  • Maintain thorough understanding of MEAUs solutions and tailor presentations to meet the needs of different types of businesses.
  • Assist top clients in developing the business case and value proposition for proposed solutions.
  • Input and maintain all prospect and client activity.
  • Champion change to remain aligned with MEAUs vision, goals, the industry, market, and client needs.
  • Work closely with related divisions (CPG, SMG, SSG, OXG) on executing business plan post-integration. Follow-up on financial performance and key strategic initiatives to ensure we are utilizing these investments to meet our significant mid-term sales growth objectives.

General Management Activity Identification

  • Oversee the execution of Compliance's oversight activities, including examinations, monitoring, and investigations.
  • Ensure the department's regulatory oversight programs meet their strategic goals and objectives.
  • Identify potential enhancements to procedures and workflow, providing operational support to department functions as required.
  • Facilitate relationships with other departments. Work with other departments to ensure compliance-related work processes are effective and efficient. Make suggestions as needed.
  • Communicate information with relevant internal and external stakeholders, including acting as a liaison with relevant industry groups and other regulatory bodies.
  • Complete all performance management functions including effective coaching, providing meaningful feedback, and guiding staff in career development.
  • Actively participates in the Company's semi-annual Legal Compliance Committee meetings.
  • Supervises Administration & Planning Manager, Sr. Sales & Marketing Manager, Sr. Business Development Manager, FA Center Manager, FESG Manager and Service Manager
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory / Management Responsibilities
  • Perform interviews, hiring, and training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work: appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Adhere to supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsible for directing the activities and management staff in Mexico.
  • In conjunction with the Matrix Management Team, conducting performance evaluations for direct reports employees.

Travel Requirements
  • 25% - 50% travel - within the Americas and Japan

Essential Education, Skills And Experience

  • Bachelor's degree, advanced degree preferred, in Administration, Management or related field.
  • 10 to 15 years' experience in a regulatory or compliance function, particularly involving cleared derivatives.
  • Technical knowledge of industrial automation products & solutions
  • Broad functional experience may include areas of strategic planning, sales and marketing, business and market development, market research, and marketing communications.
  • Strong leadership skills. Ability to lead people and achieve results through others.
  • Previous business relationships and knowledge of the Japanese Culture as it pertains to business conduct, and communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships within a global setting.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Solid judgment and decision-making skills
  • Computer proficiency – knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Experience in Machine Control products preferred.
  • Experience in field service a plus.
  • Demonstrated abilities in leading a group of individuals in achieving stated objectives, preferably in a Sales, Engineering and Administration function.
  • Experience in leading strategic initiatives in a consensus-driven context.
  • An understanding of complex and sophisticated market issues
  • Ability to apply a commonsense approach in a rule-driven environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (English and Spanish)
  • Strong networking and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment that prizes collaboration.

Beneficial Education, Skills And Experience

  • Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field
  • International travel experience
  • Previous experience executing M&A
  • Knowledge of the Japanese Culture as it pertains to business conduct, and communication.
  • Previous business relationships in dealing with the Japanese culture.
