Job Description Senior Manager, Risk Underwriting – Mexico Reporting to the Regional Director – Risk Services 5 Americas, you will be responsible for daily operations, and risk underwriting strategy for the Mexican and South American underwriting regions. General Profile Recognized technical expert in assessing financial risk, with a history of making sound underwriting decisions in the trade credit insurance industry Shares knowledge within the organisation; offering mentorship and guidance to others, both within reporting lines and to those outside of own teams Proven track record of successfully managing teams and inspiring leadership Is a key contributor individually and as a team member and provides direction to direct reports Provides guidance for activities or individuals within risk underwriting, which may have diverse elements, including externally facing role with customers, brokers, etc. Oversees team performance to meet unit, country and company goals Continuously reviews and improves processes to yield greater productivity and cost management Demonstrates skills in communication, mentoring and conflict resolution Key Deliverables Manages all aspects of the Buyer Review and Underwriting Support teams to meet unit, country, and corporate targets Responsible for approving credit limits and assessing risk exposure of potential new limits including monitoring the approvals of underwriters within the team In charge of setting underwriting strategy for each country, sector, and buyer within your remit Accountable for compliance with internal procedures including recording of decisions for use by both internal and external customers Ensure proactive action is taken to compensate for economic upturns or downturns on a market, industry or sector basis, to optimize the claims ratio Optimizes internal processes and underwriting parameters to deliver efficiencies while maintaining prudency Qualifications Candidates will ideally have at least 10 years of risk underwriting, credit management, or analytical experience. In addition to technical expertise, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate at least 3-5 years of successfully managing an underwriting team. Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish is required.
