**Description**ISP Head of Security Role ProfilePurpose of RoleThe Head of Security is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive security strategies to ensure the safety and protection of all students, staff, visitors, and school property.This role provides leadership in establishing and maintaining a secure environment that supports the school's mission, complies with regulatory requirements, and fosters a culture of safety and preparedness.The Head of Security works collaboratively with school leadership, faculty, and external agencies to anticipate risks, manage incidents, and promote best practices in security and emergency response.ISP PrinciplesBegin with our children and students.Our children and students are at the heart of what we do.Simply, their success is our success.Wellbeing and safety are both essential for learners and learning.Therefore, we are consistent in identifying potential safeguarding and Health & Safety issues and acting and following up on all concerns appropriately.Treat everyone with care and respect.We look after one another, embrace similarities and differences and promote the well-being of self and others.Are financially responsible.We make financial choices carefully based on the needs of the children, students and our schools.Learn continuously.Getting better is what drives us.We positively engage with personal and professional development and school improvement.ISP Head of Security Key Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and regularly update the school's security and safety policies, procedures, and emergency response plans.- Lead and supervise the security team, ensuring appropriate training, scheduling, and performance management.- Monitor and manage access control, surveillance systems, and other security technologies.- Conduct regular risk assessments, security audits, and safety inspections across school facilities.- Coordinate and lead emergency drills (fire, lockdown, evacuation, etc.) in alignment with local regulations.- Serve as the primary point of contact with law enforcement, emergency services, and external security agencies.- Investigate security breaches, incidents, or concerns, and provide detailed reports and recommendations.- Promote a positive culture of safety by engaging students and staff in awareness and prevention initiatives.- Manage the security budget and recommend improvements in infrastructure, technology, and staffing.- Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and relevant health and safety regulations.Skills, Qualifications and ExperienceSkills:- Strong leadership and team management abilities.- Excellent judgment and decision-making skills, especially in high-pressure situations.- Knowledge of school safety regulations, emergency response procedures, and safeguarding practices.- Proficiency in the use of security technologies (CCTV, access control, alarms, etc.).- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with staff, students, and parents.- Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify risks and implement proactive solutions.- Ability to remain calm, professional, and effective in crisis situations.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Public Safety, or a related field (preferred).Experience:- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in security management, preferably in an educational or institutional setting.- Proven experience in leading security teams and managing large facilities.- Training in first aid, crisis management, or emergency preparedness (desirable).- Familiarity with safeguarding requirements within schools is highly valued.ISP Commitment to Safeguarding PrinciplesISP is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.ISP Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging
