What will you do? As a member of GM’s Human Resources Group you are responsible for Labor Relations in a plant environment. You perform administrative functions to support hourly employees in a manufacturing organization, maintain personnel records, and complete transactions. You investigate and resolve labor disputes and provide direction to production managers on Union/GM Local Agreements. You work independently with the supervisor director to handle unusual situations. Responsibilities Represent management in the administration of the provisions of agreements between the union and management. Advise management on the interpretation of agreements and act as the management representative in dealings with the union. Exercise independent judgment within the general policies and procedures established by the agreements; receive mentorship from the supervisor. Advise management and other plant personnel on matters related to union‑management relations. Administer contractual provisions in the area of responsibility. Maintain records pertinent to labor relations activity. Communicate with management about events that could disrupt operations. Play a leading role in local negotiations. Share periodic updates on labor relations. Drive activities of various departments involved in resolving employee grievances. Conduct special investigations as needed. Job Title Labor Relations Representative (Open) Work Appropriately Availability to work rotating shifts (4x3, 5x2, 6x1). On-site: requires full‑time work on site. This position is temporary (six months). Position Requirements Field of study: Administration, Psychology, or a related field. Required experience in a similar position for at least 2 years. English proficiency: Intermediate–Advanced. Experience working with unions, strategies for employee retention, and absenteeism. Relevant knowledge and experience as labor relations representative for at least 2 years in the industry. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
