Applications Engineer

**Company Description****Pre-Order phase**:- Ensure selection, sizing, and on-time delivery of competitive techno-commercial project proposals against Request for Quotations for Mechanical Sealing Solutions (Seals and Seal Support systems)- Review, Interpret and Establish project specific requirements in collaboration with Global Stakeholders, from tender documents including but not limited to:- Instructions to Bidders, Equipment Datasheets, Material Requisition, P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Drawings), instrument Hook Up, Logical diagrams, key delivery dates, applicable INCOTERMS, and other contractual terms & conditions- Manage Techno-Commercial clarifications, Exceptions and Deviations- Manage techno-commercial scope for Seal Support systems (Auxiliary Systems) internally through Fluid Control teams- Provide investment case analysis and margin summary to Global Project Sales Managers from time to time- Conduct and Participate in Customer review meetings (EPC, OEM etc), including project kick-off meeting- Supporting team / group continuous improvement initiatives- Guiding new engineers and act as onboarding 'buddy'**Post-Order phase**:- Contract review and Order acknowledgement against purchase orders- Release clear techno-commercial order handover to Engineering and Global operations- Ensure efficient support on techno-commercial queries or conflicts arising through Project Delivery office during execution phase, where necessary**Qualifications**- Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Chemical/Industrial Production).- Working knowledge of product selection, sizing and engineering of mechanical seals and seal support systems or related products.- Hands-on experience in maintaining rotating equipment or their auxiliary systems is an added advantage.- Working knowledge in review and interpretation of project specification from OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers), EPC and End user is an added advantage.- Working Knowledge of API 682 required & API 610 is highly desirable.- Must be a quick learner and possess good technical and problem-solving skills.- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.- Team player with excellent collaboration and influencing skills.- Ability to manage Time under conflicting priorities- Customer service focused and results oriented.- Good functional experience and skills with MS Office tools like Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.- ** Intermediate to advanced English proficiency required.****Desirable Experience**:- Typical Industrial background 3 to 5 years of experience in various process industries including Oil and Gas, Chemical, Petroleum, Petrochemical industries etc., or in industries supplying equipment like Pumps, Compressors, Seals or associated auxiliary equipment to such process industries.- Typical Functional Experience in selection, sizing, bidding of engineered to order products such as Mechanical Seals, Seal Support Systems or similar.- Hands-on experience in design, installation, or maintenance of products like Mechanical Seals or Seal support systems is an added advantage.- Working experience in global companies and knowledge of foreign cultures is a plus.**Additional Information** Diversity & Inclusion**We believe that different perspectives and backgrounds are what make a company flourish.All qualified applicants will receive equal consideration for employment regardlessof race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, economic status, disability, age, or any other legally protected characteristics.We are proud tobe an inclusive company with values grounded in equality and ethics, where we celebrate, support, and embrace diversity.**Additional Information**According our mission, vision and Global Policies: Under no circumstances shall Staff be charged any fee or other costs in relation to their recruitment to work at Smiths, whether directly or indirectly.Any recruitment fees shall be paid by Smiths.Smiths will not employ anyone below the age of 18.Smiths will take reasonable steps to satisfy itself of the member of Staff's age before that person starts work at Smiths.When persons under the age of 18 are employed, they must not do work that is mentally, physically, socially or morally dangerous or harmful or interferes with their schooling by depriving them of the opportunity to attend school.
