Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. The segment is classified into carrier network and enterprise network product groupings. Purpose of Position The Buying/Procuring Coordinator supports the procurement team by performing administrative and operational tasks related to purchasing and sourcing, as well as creating and managing Power BI reports to provide data-driven insights for procurement activities. This position is responsible for ensuring timely procurement of goods and services, maintaining accurate records, and supporting vendor communication to meet organizational needs. The role primarily focuses on assisting higher-level procurement staff, processing purchase orders, and ensuring compliance with Corning Mexico’s policies and procedures. Major Responsibilities and Tasks Assist in the preparation and processing of purchase orders (POs) in the procurement system, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Follow up with suppliers to confirm delivery timelines, resolve delays, and ensure that goods and services meet required specifications. Provide general support in sourcing and obtaining quotes from vendors for routine purchases. Run and create Power BI reports to analyze procurement data and provide actionable insights to the team. Use Power BI to track supplier performance, cost trends, delivery timelines, and other key metrics. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure data accuracy and integrate procurement data into broader organizational reporting needs. Present procurement data visually through dashboards and reports to support decision-making processes. Internal and External Customers Internal (USA & Mexico) External providers Minimum Knowledge And Skill Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred but not required. Education: Technical or vocational training in procurement, logistics, or operations is a plus. Work Experience: Typically, 5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or administrative support roles, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Work Experience: Prior experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) or procurement tools is a plus. Experience with SAP: Experience working with SAP. Experience with Power BI: Experience working with Power BI for report creation and data analysis is highly preferred. Competencies: Typically, 1‑2 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or administrative support roles, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
