If you're looking for a career where you can make a real impression, join GSC HSBC and discover how valued you'll be.We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of**Subdirector Model Risk Management & Risk Steward****Role purpose**:This role is independent of the commercial risk-taking activities of the first line.The role lead efforts to monitor regional compliance within the globally set policies and guidelines for managing risks related to models, and provide advice and guidance to support these policies.This person will also have a strong understanding of local regulatory requirements for model risk and abilities to challenge the first line to ensure that it's risk management activities are working effectively.The role holder is also responsible for final approval for material models on behalf of the region and liaising with the Independent Model Review (IMR) Centers of Excellence to ensure all local validation requirements are met.In addition, this person will lead Model Risk Governance (MRG) activities specifically for their region, working with the Model Risk Governance group level team.**Main activities**:- The role holder is accountable for leading oversight and engagement with all Regional, Country and Entity level senior stakeholders for model related risk stewardship within the region they are responsible for, ensuring that strong risk management is embedded across businesses and functions, enabling safe growth.- Review and support the approval of dispensations from Global Model Risk Policy and standards for their region, including local regulatory interpretation.- Ensure businesses and functions understand and implement the requirements set forth in the model risk policy, standards and controls and ensure this work is tracked and recorded by the global Model Risk Governance Services team.- They are responsible for local Model Risk Management reporting and for providing regional input to global reporting where required.- As the Regional Model Risk Steward, the role holder is responsible for working with Risk & Control Owners to support active model risk management across their region.This includes:- Oversee the embedding of the Risk Taxonomy & Control Library for Model Risk.- Providing ongoing oversight and challenge of the 1LOD in embedding Risk Policy and monitoring ongoing compliance to the policy.- Supporting the 1LOD in setting and managing their risk appetite and risk acceptance approach including the provision of oversight and challenge to ongoing monitoring and remediation plans (as applicable).- Providing final approval for the use of material models for Regional use cases.- Actively providing advice and challenge to the 1LoD for key existing and emerging risks and the associated conduct impact and customer outcomes of these risks.- Ensuring Use and Adoption of the Risk Framework, including updates to operating models or ways of working and ensuring closure of actions in an agreed timeframe.- Continuing to enhance and embed Risk Management capabilities for themselves and their teams as well as the 1LOD.Requirements**Knowledge & Experience**- Significant experience of model risk management, governance and model development.- Experience of establishing and maintaining external relationships ideally with regulators.- Proven ability to develop strong networks with key stakeholders at all points in a matrix structure, creating an ability to execute task at hand with minimum conflict.- Leading a multi-locational team of professionals.- Providing Expert Advice and Robust Challenge.- Delivering Risk Management Policies.- Managing Risks and Controls.- You'll achieve more when you join HSBC_At HSBC we offer our colleagues a greater number of days so that they can fully enjoy their wedding, take care of the new member of the family, or grieve the loss of a family member.Our paid leave package is at the forefront in Mexico, now you have one more reason to be HSBC and proudly live a culture of well-being, balance and care**Issued by HSBC Electronic Data Processing (México) Private LTD
